SKI TOWN TREATS AND GRINDS (NORTH)
This post is for the secret spots you like to eat. I hate McD and the like so I'm going to start sharing my favorite places to eat and drink so perhaps it helps someone out like me. If you have a spot map it and post it. I will include it here.
RENO:
Los 4 Vientos: Awesome Mexican food. Brush up on your Spanish because English won't get you any food.
Naan and Kabab: Mediteranian food. Pretty fkn good, and if you get there between 4pm and 6pm they have a two for one special.
Ceol: Sweet laid back Irish bar. The owner is Ron from the Mt. Rose bar and he did a good job making a fun place to chill.
Nicks Greek Deli: Literally Mom & possibly another Mom. Killer food, and great portions. I recommend the Gyro plate! Is everything Greek named Nick's?
Slide Side: Small coffee shop and bar. Neet place struggling to survive. Built by skiers for skiers... in a crappy location. If you get a chance stop in.
INCLINE:
Austins, good down home cooking. ~unpossible~
Ts Mesquite Rotisserie, no description given, but I am going to guess there is some sort of BBQ element involved... ~unpossible~
NORTH LAKE TAHOE:
-King's Beach
Jasons Salad bar == YUM! ~Jim S~ <- This link is a little frigged up, and I can't fix it; but you want Jason's on the beach.
Caliente Mexican food, with that comes MARGARITAS!
Hiro Sushi Friday night all you can eat at the Sushi Bar only ~deuce~
Char Pit Good Burger, fries and milkshakes(that bring all the boyz to the yard...wait?what? we're not doing that anymore? ~deuce~
TRUCKEE:
Tacos Jalisco ~bodywhomper~
Squeeze In Gets a lot of tourists (real ones that only come up once a year and HAVE to go to this place they heard about) but the breakfast is solid. You like omelets...they like making omelets. ~deuce~
Bill's Rotisserie Bill's Rotisserie $5 tri-tip sando is a winner and so is everything else! ~gone2alpine

SKI TOWN TREATS AND GRINDS (SOUTH)
This post is for the secret spots you like to eat. I hate McD and the like so I'm going to start sharing my favorite places to eat and drink so perhaps it helps someone out like me. If you have a spot map it and post it. I will include it here.
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE:
Artemis greek restaurant in SLT. Place has absolutley amazing food & it's Greek & not named Nick's. Try the venison burger. ~Nuthon~
Burger Lounge It's all about the hangover helper. ~Nuthon~
Turn 3 Always a good local spot for a cocktail. $3.50 bloodymary's with a beer back all day sunday, every sunday of the year. All football games & Nascar if your into that. ~Nuthon~
Divided Sky in Meyers for cocktails as soon as your into town. ~Nuthon~
The Brewery Pub, pizza, wings, and beer... What else do you need? EDIT: The beer is probably better than Freshies
Freshies good California food menu and PLINY THE ELDER ON TAP - probably the best beer on tap in the entire Tahoe area (okay I don't know shit about North Lake pubs/bars). ~SchralphMacchio~
Brothers Burrito House ~bodywhomper~
Orchid Thai Solid Thai food ~deuce~
Red Hut Waffle Shop ~deuce~
Izzy's Burger Spa Good Burgers ~deuce~
Riva Grill I would add riva grill to south lake tahoe eats great views on the lake and the food is pretty good also. ~SkiCougar

Nice job again rf, do you want to include which season it is in the title, that seems a tradition.

FWIW, the oak trees around my place pedict an average winter. Since I've lived here (past 3 winters) they've been right. Last fall had pretty much no acorns = drought year. Year before that had massive amounts of acorns = massive winter. This year so far = average acorns.

Woohoo! New Season, new thread.
I'll come back here and edit this post to add a link, but I'm about to create a post about looking for a weekday member for our ski lease at Alpine Meadows. We have plenty of weekend members, but I'd love to find one more person/couple who ski predominantly on weekdays. Look for details in the link in a few minutes.

Some minor changes/additions:
BACKCOUNTRY / SIDECOUNTRY INFO ~Skis4Fun~
Chilling Avalanche Burial & Rescue POV Video and informative written commentary (at vimeo website) by Chappy "Avalanche Skier POV Helmet Cam Burial & Rescue in Haines, Alaska"
"He was only buried for 4 and a half minutes which is incredibly short."
A Dozen More Turns - An Avalanche on Mt Nemesis in Centennial Mountains, MT by Amber Seyler (aka Chomper13 on TGR) “The film powerfully depicts how their pursuit of powder and desire to eek out a few extra turns ends up costing one man his life, while his best friend loses a leg in the accident. Backcountry skiing, avalanches and how the "human factor" - non-scientific, emotionally-spurred miscalculations - can have dire consequences.”
"If one person is uncomfortable, that's a group decision. - by Sam Kavanaugh in A Dozen More Turns"

Part 3
Accident Report from Mt Nemesis in Centennial Mountains January 1, 2005 http://web.archive.org/web/200712092...p3?OID=5337213
Sam Kavanaugh’s perspective 5 years after A Dozen More Turns “The mountains and the solitude of the backcountry remain a passionate place for me. Few things leave me feeling more alive; yet I am all too aware of the mountain’s ability to take a life and change others in very difficult ways. Get out there and earn some fresh tracks this season, but leave the powder blinders at home. Evaluate each slope, constantly observe your surroundings, and respect nature’s power.” http://www.backcountryaccess.com/200...en-more-turns/Last edited by Skis4Fun; 10-15-2012 at 05:30 PM.

Yo, RF, when you get a chance, could you add IV Coffee Lab to the Incline list of places to eat/drink?
It opened late this summer and is close to the 7-11 (same complex as Fredricks and Bite). Anyhow, they serve the best coffee in Tahoe (fancy beans prepared individually pour-over style) and are good peeps. I'm not affiliated with them; I just like good coffee.

I think we need to expand on some of the food options. Going to be spending a lot more time up there this season with the ski lease, so I'll start by asking: best sushi option(s) around Truckee / Donner / Tahoe City? I know most of the places in SLT but not so much on the north / west side.

What's funny is that I just noticed all the info on page one of the Tahoe threads...kind of always just clicked the latest page over the years. haha.
