I am pretty sure that bike park designer and some of that crew started a gig at Sky Tavern last fall. They ran a couple of days last fall. I hope they continue as it's a great location for Reno-ites and Sky Tavern can use the extra income.

we knew where to look yesterday, and it wasn't in the resort, and it was gooood.
NSF keeping snow fresh fresh, good stuff below treeline ... south faces have a not so fun crust but certain ENE faces are holding some cold smoke pow right now.

Had houseguests all weekend, but found some fun stuff Thursday/Friday at AM. Anyone has some mellow BC plans/desires for Monday Tuesday I'd be interested. Ideally, west shore, North Lake. Shoot me a PM.
actually long-range forecast (i.e. a week from now) is looking increasingly better, EC. check BA's update.
This week has delivered some pretty decent pow turns if you chose the right places. Got some good turns in yesterday under grey skies on protected NE slopes. Today Lucy Crabapple, Tahoe BC, and I decided on another place to try.
Tahoe BC tests the wind lip for stability:
and whippets thru the lower steeper zone
Lucy makes use of Praxis rocker to tele-plow thru the slightly wind-affected pow:
Tahoe BC follows:
That pic was taken .01 nanoseconds before his ski flew off his boot for the second time today. Icing in the dynafit toe may have been the culprit. Fortunately someone on reliable tele gear was there to sidestep up and retrieve his ski.

I thought the skiing over the last 5 days has been pretty dam good. Lucy is my hero, thanks girl. I might have been equipment challenged today including most of my photo's today were in macro mode but at least I remembered my ski crampons

Hit up Castle today with Thudder. Crazy part was witnessing a head on collision and rollover at the Boreal exit ramp. We were on foot about 25 feet away; if we were 30 seconds quicker the FJ Cruiser rolling right at us would've been way too close for comfort. Probably a couple concussions, but luckily everybody was walking and talking and not in too bad of shape, considering.
Wintery snow was still to be found, exactly where you'd expect.
First time out with Thudder. Good partner -- safe, fit, etc, kicked my ass on the up, won't hesitate to head out with him again.
Stay safe everybody.
Got religious today in SLT after some good beta from Enginerd the day before. Was pleasantly surprised, but N winds were starting to stiffen up a bit.
I'm looking for a photographer to hire for a day to get some ski-porn shots in the north tahoe area. Are you one/do you know one? send me a PM.
Kudos to folks still able to find soft snow. The NE aspect N of Carson Pass I skied today was rather wind-affected. Had the novel experience of skiing double breakable crust. A humbling day.![]()
Anybody else up on Red Lake Peak today, skiing down to Crater Lake? Just curious who was in the 5 person group that set off the small wind slab? Was skinning up and watched it go down. Wasn't enough to harm anyone considering there was nothing below. But if there was any exposure below, it could have been interesting.

Keep the pics and videos coming, great stuff and pray for snow!
Near surface faceting.
And by "getting religious," UCL is referring to a certain SLT line shaped like a something. Main entrance is firm wind hardened chalk with rock exposure (so no we did not go that way). For once, a good day to be the only slowboarder in the skiers group. I appreciated the waiting up for me, I hope they appreciated how boards can rip peanut butter wind affected variable pow and breakable crust way easier than ultralight Dynafiddle setups can (queue thread controversy!).
Pretty dang good weekend in Tahoe if you ask me!
