    Warmest Cycling Tights?

I'm trying to keep riding, both road and mtn., until conditions make it unreasonable. Right now temps have been in the mid 30's at times and I've been wearing my chamois shorts with knee warmers over them and pearl izumi tights that are kind of a light fleece covered with lycra. A few days have already warranted shoe covers. Anyways, my question does anyone else who lives somewhere super cold recommend a brand and model of cycling tight that will comfortably go below freezing?

    Thanks.

do you have a budget? i'd recommend looking for something with a wind blocker front panel. i've got a pair of castelli leggerezza bibs. super warm. pearl izumi probably has a similar tight.

    Minnesotan and formar Alaskan here.

Focus on items that have a real windblock material built in. Something like the PEarl Izumi Amfib line, or the Gore Phantom. For my winter use, I use a thermal tight (sounds like you already have that), and a wind pant over that. I use the Novara Headwind pant. That combination will get me down to the low 20's pretty easy, past that I throw a pair of midweight long underwear between the tights and pants. You might also look at tights/pants that are made for XC skiing, as it is really similar stuff.

I've got a pair of Assos bib tights (farmer john style) that are incredible but pricy.
Got me through 24hrs of Moab 20 degree night laps.

Don't overlook the advantages of good windproof front panels. I once went skate skiing with lighter weight cycling tights on, and on the way down I nearly frost bit my willie. Had to put my junk in a glove and make the trade for cold fingers.

X2on the pearl amphib. Wind panel makes all the difference.
If it's too cold for these, I'm going skiing!

Shell pants are much more versatile. You can layer for just about any temp. I've ridden down to -25F.

Fleece boxer briefs with a windproof front panel (like those made by Sugoi) are probably one of the greatest things known to man.
