laughing at anothers expense = the best laughs
Can you explain the leather bound book story some time?Monty Python's version of the cougar phenomenon:
"This is a frightened city. Over these houses, over these streets hangs a pall of fear. Fear of a new kind of violence which is terrorizing the city. Yes, gangs of old ladies attacking defenseless, fit young men".

So much to say...but my mind is messy right now.
For now, thanks for the wicked good synopsis - though I do take issue with a few of your creative liberties... I'll be back to set the record straight and hopefully supply a little video when I settle down.

Before I retire after a day and night flying closely followed by a day at work (no time for jet lag) I must just mention our Canadian roomies. It was great to see Gin smiling and happy in his pants (!) throughout the trip. MIT and Mrs MIT were great too, despite ill health, husky voices and hanging off the balcony (we need to see those pics!).
Lea, you KNOW you need to join the maggettes! Do it!!Monty Python's version of the cougar phenomenon:

Fun fun fun! Great TR and photos. Makes me feel like I was there (minus the hangover I'm sure I would have had from pretending I was 21 again).
So sorry to both Mrs. Roo and KS for their losses. Horrible to hear. .
Love the free Beef Box! That is one of the funniest things I've seen in a while!

Suffice it to say, if you ever have the opportunity to hang with these two, do not hesitate to take it.

A pleasure to read Roo. One of these days I'll have to make one of these summits!
My condolences to Mrs. Roo and KS; being in the mountains can do wonders for grief of any sort. I wish you both well.
Les Schwab free beef is legendary, glad you were able to partake in a tradition that we in the PNW have taken for granted for years! Why would anyone buy tires anywhere else?Last edited by natty dread; 02-14-2005 at 05:11 PM.

My Summit TR is not worthy of its only thread so I’ll post it here
The light at the end of the tunnel was not a train. It was Friday off. After a brutal week of work, the Foggy mobile left Denver late Thursday afternoon. Lack of a wingman (or wingwomen) and reports of variable conditions were of no import, this kid needed to get out of town. Radio only made the drive drag on. Analyzing exactly how far the conservative talk radio host’s head is up his ass is only entertaining for so long (Tribal wars as justification for the slaughter of Native American’s was my favorite). After a night spent in the camper in Hoback Canyon, I finally rolled into Jackson. I was a cold night but -10 in Jackson, damn!!. A few smoke signals were made and the plan was to meet BobMc and the Comish crew at the ‘Ghee.
While the rat pack was evident, I only got to ski with a few. The morning was spent ripping around whatever was steep and north facing. I’m a horrible guide. I go where I want. Some follow, so don’t. A particular rock shot ended with SkiingBear in the trees and others leaving for terrain actually covered with snow. Comish, Bear and I spent the afternoon exploring the Targhee sidecountry with a Nipple->Scott Bagh Memorial Bowl->repeat->Nipple tour. The snow was the best of the trip. If you want to huck, go here. Drops of 2 to 200 feet with steep landers are just a minutes walk from the rope. After a couple at the bar, I imposed on Frozen for some accommodations. While I slept, those two played vids until 3am.
On tap for Saturday – a recon mission on the Idaho side with Stanley and friend. The positives: great company, new terrain to check out, a full day of exercise, and the 30-40 wicked mint pow turns above the creek. The negatives: two much up for not enough down, the 600 feet of goodness in the guide book that simply isn’t there, the 100% humidity/light snow/greybird that soaked the best modern fabrics, provided minimal vis and created some weird sleet crust on the money shot. So all in all, a great tour. I can’t say I’ve ever put the skins on at the house and skied all the way home. The main reason those perfect turns in the backcountry mean so much is because they are so elusive. Enjoy the chase.
PTTP at the Moose and I was thirsty. After setting up camp in the Jackson parking lot (no probs FYI) and a tasty bowl of soup and a grilly, camper style, I met the posse at the Moose. Great to see some old friends again and meet some new ones [/cheesy line from any one at any summit]. I felt a little like the kid that was late to the party. Most everyone was about to leave town and was winding down. The IR was extensive. Kellie and Plakes were gimped up and the tale of those sick or broken went on for quite some time. Drinks, dinner with drinks, and more drinks were had. As the flurries turned to steady snowfall, the bed won out over another drink. Am I getting wiser?
I awoke Saturday to a chopper buzzing my camper. Now I’ve been kicked out of my share of parking lots, but I found this particularly rude. I quick peak outside reveal Teton SAR staging in the parking lot. Anyone know what happened? It looked like they were flying in a team by helo. 500miles between me and home was not going to stop me skiing. I headed up the Pass and made a sweet run somewhere in the Bearclaw trees zone. 6 inches and some wind had done wonders. As I stood hitching a ride back up a big grin burned into my mug. For me, this is what it is all about. A few days of skiing puts my mind in the right place.

Snow was pretty tough on Friday (JH)..firm at best..but conditions progressively improved throughout the wknd.
Good meeting new mags and seeing familiar ones. J-Hole rules without a doubt.
Saratoga Bowl Friday...not blower.
A lonely Corbet's...for good reason
A happy place.
yo baby who you callin'?? I know where were at...?
Saturday dusted that crust.
Powder awards at the Moose.
Mags winning some sh$t.
I think Kellie kicked the chair out from under this Tool after he intercepted 90% of the powder schwag......nice work K.
Comish taking it to on Sunday
Sublette on Sunday
Today would've been an 'epic' day.I have mastered all major sporting activities to a high degree of mediocrity.

Nice TR and pics Roo. Great talking with you and Mrs Roo at the Cowboy bar, too bad we all couldn't meet up for a few runs before the end of the trip. Definitely need to meet up with you guys in EU soon. When's that EU mini?

Was that the snowboarder they were putting a PA out for when we were in the Moose? I saw a couple of his colleagues looking a bit sheepish outside the Teton Club that evening.
NB - Holy crap, Barnballs, you've got a fast shutter finger.
I thought this character was about to get battered! I was laughing my ass off upstairs when he hit the deck.Last edited by bad_roo; 02-15-2005 at 08:12 AM.
