    Whatcom Peak?
A few have skied Whatcom. It's a cool area where objectives are great...but a place where going with other options in mind isn't a bad idea. There are some unskied lines on that mountain that could be interesting depending on when you can get back there and conditions. Spring time would be best...say late may or early june. That would give you the best chance at success. Good luck. It's a very pretty area, especially if you climb Mt. Challenger and catch views of the rest of the range. Approach via Hannigan Pass Trail, then down to the Chilliwack, then up to Easy Ridge and over to Perfect pass via imperfect impasse or take the cheat route over Whatcom Peak.

He doesn't mention the Pacific Decadal Oscillation which is in a cold cycle currently.

I knew what I was getting into going to Muir today and did it anyway. On the upside: Skinned from the lot with no carries.

Damn, the telemetry agrees that it was snowing hard all day down there. Now everyone, we need your best sacrifices to keep the FL down this weekend.

Managed to get out and ski some non-glaciated terrain yesterday before the temperature spike. Snowing all the way down to 4000' on the drive up with ~22 inches on the ground at pass level (5500') and plenty more as you climbed above the highway. Snowed consistently all day, there must have some cooler easterlies insulating the passes while it seems like it rained at similar elevations elsewhere according to telemetry and other reports.

We skinned up to about Panorama Point from Paradise yesterday in the rain... They did not open the gate until 11:30...It was very wet, and when someone came back down and said it was still raining at Pebble creek we decided to turn back as we were already soaked through, and had been hoping the rain would change to snow at some point soon...

Skiing back down was pretty entertaining!

Probably about 15-20 other nutty people joined the fun, and it seemed like most turned back at around the same time.

The good news is that if not too much melts with the warm up/rain this week, it will only take another big dump or two to have good coverage up there... There was over 2 feet, probably close to 3 where we turned back.

I did pretty much the same. I left really early to beat the warmup, which worked. It started to get noticeably chowdery at 11am.

I maybe biased, but do believe the Stevens Book is good stuff. Covers the whole 75 year history with words and killer photos.

Let's hope all this warm rain doesn't wash everything away... A little rain on what's fallen already is a good thing for base building, but 60 degrees and pouring rain in Seattle at 6AM doesn't bode well. Forecast calling for rain and freezing levels above 7K until Sunday...

I appreciated the track! not to mention the conditions report. I wish I could have joined you guys on Friday. They are just about the shortest laps ever but very fun for one's first turns in October.
