September turns?
Vets - check, check
dookey67 - check, check
powdrhound -_____________
powdrhound? powdrhound?
Bella? woof (count me in)
powdrhound still hadn't gotten in his September turns, so even though dookey67 and I already had a double-dose, we joined powdrhound in his noble quest.
So after hiking from Woods Lake to Winnemucca Lake we went the extra mile to Roundtop's Eastbowl.
The patches to the east looked skiable:
They looked a little different to powdrhound when clicking in on icy suncups on a 45 degree slope:
powdrhound and Bella...
Bella and powdrhound...
Vets "escapes" from the from the Far East Drunken Monkey Crawl or Stupid is as stupid does patch:
powdrhound handles the snow textures...
...so does Vets...
...as does dookey67...

Bella waits patiently while we do some more laps:
powdrhound goes for more...
...powdrhound looks happy to have made it...
dookey67 starts slicing and spraying on another run...
Vets:
dookey67:
Looking back at powdrhound and Vets hiking back with the East Eastbowl patches in the background:
October turns will be up next.

Vets was being modest about the Forest Gump Patch (aka The Stupid Is As Stupid Does Patch aka The Suicide Snow Monkey Scramble).
He hiked up an extra 700 yards of nasty scree then had to hike around 3/4 of the patch, which had melted out in such a way that it created a 6 foot angulated wall that he then had to inch his way up to reach the actual skiable portion of the patch. He actually had one ski on, digging into the angulated wall, kicking in with his other boot, and clawing with his poles and hands and arms to eventually haul himself up and over the rim. It took him more'n 45 minutes to get himself up on top and into a position where he could put his other ski on. Then it was at least another 15-20 minutes before he actually clicked in. Then, to top it all off, the snow was so icy that he was forced to implement the survival tactical maneuver of Falling Leaf Tactical Icy Suncup Evasion to actually get down the slope.
It was some straight Cypress Hill ish for real:

A review of the list revealed that I was wrong. My 9/10 season began in November, at Mammoth. So this was only month 35. Makes this next patch weekend that much more important.
Still, I would prefer a touch of fresh for the October turns. Last year was so fun.
Let it Snow!
