1952 Raliegh, all original. A little rough but everything works.

I used to deliver the vancover sun on those ^^ i could pick up a couple bikes for 5$ each at the Vancover police auctions, i rode them hard & put em away wet and they were all pieces of shit. The brakes never really did much which sucked cuz I had to come down burnaby mtn ever day and i had more than one complete brake failure, the chain guard would get caught on the pedal as it came around and get bent to shit, with the weight of 70+ afternoon daily papers I stripped the teeth off the sun gear so all I had was 3rd, things were constantly breaking/ fucking up, broken spokes, flat tires all the time, as kids we were doing what would now be called mtn biking but it was just some kids abusing bikes that were not made to take it and not very good in general

but they were vintage you know

The prior owner took the brooks saddle. Headset on its last leg. Bottom bracket is good for now but apparently the tool is 135 usd lol.

I didn't realize Fat Chance was back in business. Your post made me google them to see what happened.

Here's the other old whip, a 97 IF deluxe, Reynolds 853 tubing. Had this one since new... I've had it 25 years now, and was riding one of my favorite trails from 25 years ago up in Park City. Good times.Click image for larger version.

‘92 SWorks. Bought at end of ‘92 race season from sponsored racer. Had Rockshox I and XT with GripShift. Rode it till 2000ish, going thru three shocks and two drivetrains.

Turned it into a town bike when we moved to Paradise.

How many points do I get for the milk crate?

Its done a fair amount of brewery trips, but my handlebar holder has seen more coffee duty than anything else as this was a (0.5 mile) work commuter for the last 7 years.

80s Fuji Thrill. Rebuilt it probably a decade ago and it's due for another overhaul. Thinking about swapping the red for orange...

I picked up a parts bike last night for cheeeeeep.
Full m737 deore XT group set. Smooth hubs, derailleurs, shifters/levers, cantilever brakes, cranks, all in very very nice shape. Wheels appear high quality, Bontrager bcx1/2 rims with XT hubs. Wish the headset was XT as well, but it's not. Tear down will happen tonight.
I'm thinking a bunch of these parts will migrate over to the fat ti when I head back up to ketchum where that bike is stationed (so my neighbor doesn't see it)
Bike is a performance m104. Fork is non functional and will likely be tossed as will the frame.

I grabbed another old school bike last night up in ketchum. An immaculate 1998 trek 5500. Oclv carbon, i checked the frame over very carefully for any signs of cracks, or bonding failure, etc, and could find nothing. Very nice shape bike. Dura ace 9 speed components, Chris king headset, Reynolds ouzo pro fork. Bit of a steal if you ask me. Seems to ride very very nicely, nimble and fast. I haven't had a proper road bike in 25 years, so I'm pretty excited.
I need to find my clip in MTB shoes now...Click image for larger version.

I had that same bike - great bike! Got a new Madone 5 on warrantee. In my case, the carbon was all good, and the glue joints were good as well. But I had a crack in one of my front dropouts (aluminum). Make sure you check the aluminum bits (front dropout failing at speed would NOT be fun)!

25 year old carbon feels like a bold move. Good luck, Cotton!

True true... But it rides so nice... I will havemy finely tuned ear and butt paying attention for the slightest... Anything, and will inspect frame and fork frequently. Like really frequently. But it is in excellent condition, nary a scratch on her. It'll be fine. Right?

I don't think I would be so bold as to trust glue/bond from 90's carbon. On the other hand, the Dura Ace from that era is one of the best. I would be looking for a steel or TI frame to move everything over.

    1" or 1 1/8" steerer?

Weeeelll my old 26" wheel Ellsworth Truth with a coil shock that i've been using as my junker townie since 2009 got swiped just recently.
Hardly ever locked it even. Would leave it right outside the coffee shop/ whiskey bar /river takeout wherever the fuck pretty much. If i locked it at all it was with a little bullshit style shoelace lock.
The brakes had gone to shit and didnt shift worth a dirty fuck either. Still loved it. Not enough i guess tho maybe.
So long little silver bike; may you break some fuckheads face when that mis-adjusted quick release opens up!

I'll admit drunken buffoonery and leaving it locked to a lamppost next to the highway for three days played a role here.

    Sorry no photos

Here’s a pic of my ‘95 Gary Fisher Wahoo turned townie for riding to and from the brewery. The basket holds a few 4 packs which is much better than a single koozie holder.

    vintage

    ^excellent backdrop.

Here’s my Fat Chance Yo Eddy. Is this now considered vintage?
I used to use it as a townie bike after it was retired (hence the risers and long stem on it currently) but now it’s mostly just garage decoration

I'd ride that yo Eddy. Great bikes. Had a buddy from the shop in PC back in the late 90s that had one. Ripped on that thing. I think my Indy fab deluxe (97?) Is very similar. Love riding that thing.
