    Well, while German is a West Germanic language, the word "prost" comes from the Latin prosit. Romanian is a Eastern Romance language and one could expect that "prost" would have the same meaning as in Latin. However, in Romanian it come from Proto-Slavic prostъ‎ (прост) which means "simple"... etc.
