Vibes to his friends and family...

    http://www.revelstoketimesreview.com...183263882.html

    Forgot about the paywall:

A Revelstoke man has been identified as the victim of a car crash inside a snowshed east of town on Tuesday afternoon, the BC Coroners Service reports.

Todd Owen Madill, 40, died after his car swerved over the centre line and collided with an oncoming tractor trailer inside the Lanark snowshed on the Trans-Canada Highway.

The incident happened around 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 11. The tunnel is located between Albert Canyon and Glacier National Park.

Madill was heading east when the collision occurred. He was seriously injured in the crash and died at the scene, despite the best efforts of first responders to save him.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing. "Road conditions were noted to be poor at the time," coroner Larry Marzinzik said in a statement.

Madill's family have been notified of his death and they have requested privacy at this time.

Silver Star opened the backside today. 20-30cm overnight of blower. It was crazy good. Bottomless waist deep, best one in the past 5 years.

Thanks for that. I was hoping that it wouldn't have been worth missing work, but you fucked up that plan. A pox on you, heathen!
On that note, would it be worth my hard earned $ to pay for tomorrow? I hate Sat/ Sun skiing, but no pass this year

Since then I found out that there was a partial burial on Beer Belly and a partial burial on Papoose Bowl the same weekend (1 week before opening). Maybe there was a Booty's slide too? I'd love to know more if so...

The snowpack in the area around Red Resort has a persistent surface hoar about 60-80 down (deeper on lee slopes). It is moderate to hard to trigger, but fractures with a sudden planar shear - be wary out there, and know if the slope you are on has the layer...

People are skiing everything up top. Coverage of the upper mountain feels like January. the base feels solid too, I have only hit one rock in 11 days of skiing, and am going to bring out the good skis...

Sun Peaks got 30cm overnight and 40cm in the last 24 hrs. That is a big, no, very big dump for SP. Even the cut up snow later in the day was knee deep and light. Conditions are way ahead of last year.

Life in the more interior interior has been powderific and the snow gods smile on us with a stable pack and cool temps...

Rallied out to Troll for opening weekends food bank day and fought the snow snakes for some fun turns and a lunch of one of the best cinnamon buns ever.

Everyday is a pow day. Friday went up & did the Birthday Chutes & the NE chutes into Plewman North with friends. Spent Saturday getting a serious education from a Kootenay Pass legend. Today broke trail through 15-20cm from the parking lot right to the top of Cutblock. Damn, this should be my full-time gig. Oh wait, it is... gov't ski team!

For any of the crew from Red, how is the transport to the top of Grey working out? What are your thoughts of the runs they cut?
