So it's hard to tell in the picture but the little fish are around 30lbs. First fish of the season was a shooter. Good way to begin. But Ellen kicks ass - if she had a beard it would be much more haggard. -Jer

It's only mine in the sense that I'm the captain. Got one nice flatty today and some kings and some yelloweyes.

The Big Hook, Live Bait, and Boats with Big Motors, and Big Fish Thread
That fish is 71 inches long. To legally keep halibut here it has to be under 42 or over 80 inches. There's a workaround in that if you're willing to pay for it $340 you can keep a fish in between. It's called a GAF guided angler fish. That money goes to and that fish comes out of a commercial fisherman's quota. The notches are a legal requirement as destruction of the trophy to make it a commercial fish. Dumb.

Wanted to put this here. That fish is about 280lbs 77" long. Caught and released on one of the best halibut fishing days ever. 2 fish over 200 and 3 between 90-150 several 50-60lbs fish and got out limit of legal sized fish too. I'm exhausted after releasing all those hogs. But Ellen kicks ass - if she had a beard it would be much more haggard. -Jer

Gotta do me some Halibut some day.
My summer went to shit. Managed to find a rock by letting a noob drive the boat. She will run in 5" of water, but....
Here's the damage. About $18k worth. Thankfully insurance covered it.

Pump reset
Engine reset

Managed to get a few decent 45cm+ Flathead (an Aussie flatfish) off the kayak today. I took photos but they came out as blurred pieces of shit so I'm not going to bother posing until the next trip.

Stumbled on a couple of brown trout yesterday while striper fishing. This one is a 9 pounder.

Imagine the size of the striper you'd catch if you used that one for bait

The Big Hook, Live Bait, and Boats with Big Motors, and Big Fish Thread
Striper season almost here in New England. And a new rod just arrived (lami 1203)
Last year's favorite- caught on a boat with a motor, 30#pp, live eel with a 6/0 octopus hook. Didn't weigh but 49 inches long...and I needed 2 hands.
Took 25 minutes but it did eventually swim away after some dr Quinn medicine woman type shitDecisions Decisions

Nice fish. We hit the Cumberland River just outside of Nashville last weekend. Biggest was right at 40. Note the tune.
