Is Squamish the new superspot?
I saw this on the Yes snowboard site.
Looks insane. Anyone know about Squamish zones? How is it different than the usual Whistler ones?

Funny. Squamton was a complete logging town shithole when I lived there 24 years ago.

If I could live in Canadia, Squamish would be it. Period. I don't think this information is new. Those guys are just now publicizing where it is.

Squam is a great town but the skiing is no better than anywhere else in BC. The zone in that movie is super deep and you can pretty much drive to the Pemby zones in the time it takes to get there.

I've been to some of the zones like Seagrams and Brandywine, but I was wondering where in relation to those are the Squamish areas. I guess it figures that zone is deep or everyone would be going there.
Also the biking in Squamish is super sick. I hit it up earlier this summer. Soo fun. That town is pretty all time. fun change from the usual whistler scene.

Squompton is and always will be nothing but a piss stop on the way to Whistler.

Wait, why'd they have to cut a sled road if they were getting heli drops the whole time?
Sick clip otherwise, much respect for the YES crew.Life is simple. Go Explore.

Zone looked super sick and the riding was awesome. But, if this is how a typical section in the movie is laid out it is going to be very painful to watch.

I'm sure Squamish is a great place to live, but so are most B.C. mountain towns. You could live 45 minutes up the road in Whistler and have access to the same great touring, as well as a massive resort. Or you could live in Revelstoke, Nelson, Rossland, Fernie or Golden and get similar awesomeness with easy resort access for days you don't want to work for it.
Let's face it, everywhere in B.C. is good if you have access to a helicopter.

The heli could have carried the sleds in too.
I'm wondering what the law/rules are for trail construction. Last time I checked, it was ok to clear brush and deadfall, but cutting down living trees, or using a shovel to move soil was a no go.

There are only so many frenchman allowed in a heli per load. Something about the poutine and aviation fuel.
