Jeezis fuck man, there's gotta be better hideouts than skatchewan?

Anyone been up Athabasca or Columbia lately? May be heading up there in a couple weeks to climb them. Debating about bringing the split or just booting down. Columbia seems like a no brainer. Standard routes....
Well one things for sure, you definately do not want to be anywhere on or near the Athabasca ramp without a rope on at this time of year. That shit will eat you whole. I know quite a few people that have been up there at various times of the year, and almost all of them have gone in a hole up there. I'd be pretty leary about Athabasca on the north side also, some big slots there some of which run vertically down the fall line.

Hmm, Kimbo is looking pretty good right now compared to Flatsville, SK.

Just kiddin, Shadam, you do what you gotta do. No doubt you'll be back in the mountains soon enough. And yeah, watch out for the barbed, it's the prairies silent killer. At least an avalanche makes some noise!

Thanks. Did that happen with skis during the descent? I was planning on roping up but the other two are climbers so it be a solo descent effort. What about Andromeda/Athabasca combo via the glacier.

    whatup?

long time no see, but i spent a month in .eu and then did other things and, well.. i missed the flood.

gripen, if you want a pair of brand new 186 high societies (unmounted, 107 underfoot) they're yours. in fact, if anyone in canmore/banff needs them they can have them. looks like they'll not be mounted again this year (i'll ski the old ones with the kid at the COP) so may as well donate to those missing gear from the flood. before any kid asks, no, they're not reverse cambered

theres probably some patch skiing still to be had for those that don't mind an adventure

although I'm told the Pasquia hills are a moraine from way back in the day,
its highest point is 707m (so google earth tells me)
does that count as a mtn ???

$900 is the same as last year's regular price, around September they make a push with the early season prices again for a few weeks. I imagine around then it'll drop to $750 or thereabouts.

$1429 for the RCR super pass ... OUCH !!!

however I think it gives me the 3 resorts that most interest me, but no early bird ???
or am I missing something ???

if you live outside the park buy a sled ...

I'll do some math and get back to you on the total coast of running my sled last season,
but $1500 for gas and oil is over 100 days of riding fresh turns and big lines everyday ...

KH early bird finished up in mid June I think. Super pass might've been the same. Fuck I can't wait to smash out stupid vertical at the resort.

im okay with those prices. I wont be getting out nearly as much on the sled as you are though.

Unfinished edit but it's good enough for you sour bastards. summer can be over any day now

keep in mind these figures are for a sled neck ...

    gas $1878
    oil $1000
    parts&service$1625
    parts sled $1200
    trail pass $172.50

    $5875

call it a round number of $6,000 for about 3800 miles not km's
I lost count of days on sled, its about 90 - 100.
its about $1.60 a mile or $65 a day to be a sled neck.

for a sled skier who doesn't need a parts sled,
is only doing 50 days a season,
and is only using the sled for axcess the daily cost should be half that.
$1000 lift ticket used for 50 days is $20 a day, but not all days and turns are freshies, with a sled its fresh and or big gnar ...

ok I havent included the purchase price of the sled, think $3g - $4g

I didn't include truck gas coz its 22km round trip to both my secret stashes, 50km round trip to the horse from the house. even including trips t town for gas and parts I think its about even.

this is TGR so I expect some flaming for this post, so have at "er ...

If anyone needs cheap sled oil next season PM me. I have Amsoil interceptor for $55 a jug

5-6 of those will last you 2000km or over a full season of sledding.

Best to pre order in the fall.

Yep, early early bird deadline for RCR was June 15. Early bird will be in Sep. Same as it's been for past 10 years or so.

But I think KH had a different schedule before RCR.
