Yeah, first two parts were stellar - didn't completely wreck it with third part but it was def a little anticlimactic. 600 great pages out of 900.

I got part way through the seventh book and went to the unabridged audio versions. I enjoyed the last books, but by the time I got there I was more or less hooked on the unabridged audio versions. I did read probably a 1/3 of each of the last 2 books, but listening to it is so much easier. Originally Posted by Tippster

I think I made this same comment in another thread, but if you read the Wool series, read Shift, then Wool, then Dust. There's a little overlap in each but that makes the most sense. There's info in Wool that makes Shift sort of hard to get into IMHO (even though Wool was written first).
Anyone read Earnest Cline's new book Armada yet? I'm such a fan of Ready Player One that I'm purposely putting off reading Armada until I have some real time to devote to it.

just went through thread, so I see the forever war by joe haldeman mentioned several times so I will add Alastair Reynolds and book Revelation Space, the first in a series. hard sci fi

No mention of Lord Dunsany? I just exhumed an old box from storage and found a copy of "Beyond the Fields We Know", a compendium of Dunsanys works edited by Lin Carter. A quick scan of the first few chapters reminds me how striking his works are.
