I had a .22 when I was 6 and a 20ga shotgun when I was 10. I don't remember that far back, but I've seen photos of me when I was about 3 with a pellet gun. I also hiked miles back into the woods when I was really young (all by myself! Horrors!!). I grew up to be a non-weakling.

Kids who grow up playing X box and watching unrealistic shitmovies and then buy an AR-15 when they're 23? That's not a good transition. Unlikely they will freak out and massacre a bunch of strangers, but they usually have horrible form and do stupid stuff at the range.

Seriously. Slick hired Ray Wallace, a "renowned Bigfoot researcher", to hunt for this elusive creature in No Cal. Ray was the road builder for my Grandpa's logging and sawmill operations near Bridgeville. The two of them had been faking "sightings" in the area for years as a joke. Ray got my Grandpa hired on as a tracker/hunter for that "expedition" because he'd "seen" Bigfoot several times, knew the area and was a great marksman.

So true. I heard a radio segment a few weeks ago about a woman who moved from NYC to Central Oregon. She decided she wanted to learn to shoot and (good on her) signed up for a hunter safety course. She was freaked out at first because everybody else in the class was under 14! Then she saw how responsible these kids were around firearms. Was a real sea change in her thinking.

And this is why I'm not wild about people taking guns into a public place. There was some yahoo on a radio talk show about a year ago saying that, had he been able to carry his pistol in public without a CCW, he could have quelled a disturbance on his bus when some drunk guy started threatening people. Somebody pointed out that they wouldn't be very comfortable with someone touching off rounds on a crowded bus. Yahoo responded "well, I wouldn't have shot him, just hit him over the head with the gun".

Some really great stories and varied quivers here. Really glad I started this thread. So much better than how many Audi's or Explosivs do you own.

You can tell a ton about a person and their family by the firearms. Let's keep this going. These stories run deep and are uniquely American in some sense. The flavors, the purposes, the history. Really interesting. Thanks all. But where are all the chicks? I guess it's TGR, but c'mon. I know there's a bunch of tack shootin' .38's out there. Not like I've ever been out-shot, or out-hunted by a chick. Na, no way. Wink.

No offense, but that seems a bit odd.

Its 6-10 man. Always count for what you *could have* in the future, not what you have now. (Gun safe buying advice)

I put 6-10 even though 3 of them are actually only pellet guns..

    I-Man
    Well I'm lost without I-Man
Without my gun in my hand
My ladybug don't understand how I've tried

But I've got time on my side
And now my heart, all filled with pride
Many days to realize my final plan

All I need my arms to provide
Make my coccoon to bask inside
My ladybug is on the rise with another man

So I got my gun in my hand
And I feel its time to take my stand
All love aside, I'm denied a second time

Over it goes, I'm breakin through
I got my gun in my hand
I-Man's out and on the loose
Now that it's time to take my stand

Now I'm only doing what I can
When everyday I kiss her hand
My ladybug sent her new man to his demise

Now it's aglow inside her eyes
Like a summer sunset on the tides
My ladybug, believes inside, she's got her man

Over it goes, I'm breakin through
I got my gun in my hand
I-Man's out and on the loose
Now that it's time to take my stand
