I use my pixel 3a as a second device for work. Data only SIM on my Fi plan. It's still ticking. However, at some point work will no longer allow it because the OS will be too old. They begrudgingly allow n-1.

Yeah, they don't make it obvious that a new charger is needed, but I figured that out after a few days and ordered the 15w. Still takes 30 min from 90% to full...maybe cord to too long.

Anyone want a $50 google store coupon for buying 7a shoot me a pm. "Give $50. Get $50. Simply send the code below to a friend and when they buy a Pixel 7a, you’ll each get a $50 Google Store coupon code." Probably only worth it if you are planning a couple purchases(newer wall brick)...don't think it gets you $50 off the 7a.

Just bought a Pixel 7a, copying stuff over now. A little annoyed that phones keep getting bigger.

Agreed. That's why I'm hanging on to my aging (but still outstanding) Pixel 3 for dear life. Best recommendation this forums ever had for me aside from my skis.

I am upgrading from a 3. I could have held out longer. But the phone was definitely starting to lag in spots, and also started to overheat more frequently. And the new Pixel 7a will cost me something like $10/mo for 2 years. And it's HUDGELY bigger.

Last month Xfinity offered me a $500 trade-in credit for my old Galaxy A50 so I was able to pick up a new S22 for $8/mo. Nice phone, and definitely not huge, smaller than the A50.

Guess I'll need a new phone eventually. I must be one of the few who actually thought the moto z's with moto mods was and should have been the future of it all.

I had (and still have a few now retired) Moto Z series. 3 of the Mods- extra battery, the speakers, and the Hasselblad camera, The last was a Z4 that got to be short on battery life, then even with a case on it it fell out onto the concrete driveway and cracked screen... Just 2 issues plus being only 4G and speeds for the data were under 2 and 3 Mpbs download all too often on cellular.(But the 5G mod is out there also if only was the 5G wanted.)

After a brief stint with a Pixel 5 (great size, but the battery was failing and causing the screen to separate) I ended up back in the warm embrace of Samsung. The S22 is the right size and mine has been great for the last 5mo or so. Some complain about battery life, but I find it to be the same as any other phones I've had. S23 is basically just a slightly updated version, and it retains the reasonable size.

That Motorola I purchased last Nov is larger, but I like it. I will never pay big $$$ again for a phone, as this Moto G Stylus does everything I want.

They have the S2x + (or Plus sometimes) and the S2x Ultra for those looking for huge screen phones in the 21, 22 and 23 series...

My old ass appreciates big phablets (S23 Ultra). I have big hands and bad eyes. I can barely use my wife's iPhone.

Anyone still nursing one of these phones and want a free screen protector? I'll mail it to you on my dime just to keep it out of the landfill.

The usual phone things. Surf some TRG. Stick it in my shorts on vibrate and call myself from another phone. The occasional acid flashback.

    What phone now?

    Phone pricing is nutty
My current is an iPhone 7 that hasn’t died yet but also hasn’t been supported for over a year now
15 pro seems like good leap. Likely gonna just bite the bullet and then hold on to it long term again
Would have loved any discounts but I’m not adding a line to my plan (what kind of discount is that?)

Anybody else holding out to see what's up with the Pixel 8? I haven't heard much about it, BUT appears they're finally gonna downsize it some compared to the previous gen. That has my attention. My Pixel 3 is still hanging on, but it's battery life has become unbearable, it's been doing this weird thing where it gets real hot occasionally, and sometimes the volume rocker has a mind of its own so as much as it pains me to admit, I believe it is time to retire it. It's been SUCH an outstanding phone that has had a great run. Is the 8 just around the corner? I think I can hold out a few months if I need to.

    Time for a Verizon rant.

In August of 21 I was walking a job site and sat down to update a map on my tablet. My Kyocera smartphone slipped out of my pocket and I lost it. The loggers found it with their skidder later that day. Off to the Verizon store.
I got a new Motorola 5GW but is was kind of spendy. Fast forward to August of this month. Phone stopped holding a charge for more than 8 hrs and would get unstable after about 4, turning on and off. Took it in and had the battery replaced, $ 99.00.
Didn't fix a thing and the techs told me Motorolas are junk. Phone past warranty so it is now just a piece of metal and plastic junk that I had dumped another 99 bucks into.
Went to the Verizon corporate store and ended up walking out after 45 minutes. Rep. kept trying to upsell me on an unlimited plan that I don't need. Would not work with me on anything in the way of a deal on a Samsung, kept steering me back to Motorola.
Next day I went into a Verizon franchise store.

The Rep. also tried to upsell me on the unlimited plan, I asked about going pre-paid and was told that I could do that but Verizon throttles service when the towers are busy and pre-paid plans suffer first in that scenario. She did some calculations and came up with an unlimited plan and a Samsung S23 and allowed me $ 800.00 credit on the trade in of my useless Motorola. All in I am spending an additional 10 bucks a month and when the balance on the S23 is paid off that will come down by 5 bucks. Thanks Sierra.

Then I needed to buy a new block to charge the fucking phone cause they changed the charging system and recommend only using approved blocks, there goes another 30 bucks. And of course Smartphones are fragile so I needed a case and screen cover. The shop that did the repairs gave me some store credits back from the failed repair so I went back there for that purchase, there goes another 70 bucks.

All in all not the most satisfying experience.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Seems like a decent deal to me, you got a brand new phone for almost free and you had to buy some normal accessories that everyone else buys as well.

I did get a decent deal. Took me about 9 hours of fucking around at Verizon stores and on the phone to do it.
And to be honest the rep at the corporate store on Huffine was a condescending asshole.

I bill my labor out at $ 85 and hour so my time spent dealing with these people makes the deal that much less enticing. So it goes, can't live without a fucking cell phone these days.
