A few decades ago (OMG, 4 decades already. Time flies.) I got fitted for a set of clubs, the fitter/builder told me I was a 42R and could shop from the rack. Still playing those "Hot Forged" System 3000 tours .
Anyone ever get fitted and see the results on the score card?A few people feel the rain. Most people just get wet.

I got fitted this year. After four swings with my existing clubs, the fitter grabbed my 7 iron and said "you've never hit anything close to a draw with these, have you?"
Of course, I hadn't, because the shafts were waaaaay too stiff and the new Mizunos I got with proper shafts somehow stopped slicing like crazy. So yeah. My handicap was a 15 (this was mid-July) and is currently a 6. There's more to it than the clubs but the right shafts are really, really important.

It's still also in our heads. For some more than others too. I don't understand it. Way to go Root you leaped my 12 to 9. Shot a personal best this summer of a +2 and matched my previous career total of 3 rounds in the 70s (now 6). Had rounds of 6 birds and 4 twice also when personal best was 4. Bought my clubs brand new un-adjusted for $699 online with patience and digging. Retail was $1200.I'm cool with this, as long as you Kirkwood Bro Brah's stay away from Heavenly when 88 closes- TahoeBc

Had to make a grip change this year because my left thumb has become extremely arthritic ( to much guitar playing). I had just starting playing well, but playing in pain sucks. My left thumb is now behind the shaft, not on top. Shot 90, 85 in the state senior am with new grip ( exceedingly hard golf course) to boot. Switched to the jumbo grips and new grip. Then shoot 88 first round of the state mid am.
Finally felt comfortable with the new grip and grips. Shoot 72 the second round of the mid am. I’m hoping next year I can become a factor is in some of the tournaments. Probably fuck up some body part this year skiing.

Thanks for everyone chiming in on the fitting.
I think my best bet may be to go to the pro at the course my league is run out of and see what they offer or if they have any days where they bring in certain manufacturers for fittings.
I’m not a fan boy if a specific brand so my options are wide open.

The fitting also can be instrumental in helping your own awareness of your swing by digesting the numbers produced in the fitting - always get a print out of the numbers, it can be informative to your pro as well if you're not on a monitor during a lesson.
Perhaps a few swings w the Mizuno shaft analyzer at a big box store will give you some easy, cheap info to work with. Then you can consider how close the recommended shaft matches what you're playing to determine if new shafts/clubs would be beneficial.
Depending on the size of the pro shop they may have several individual manufacturers fitting carts with a variety of heads and shafts all quickly interchangeable. It's better to be outdoors as well.

It's finally ski season, well 6 days to go, but golf is definitely over here in central Idaho.
Got 4 new wedges ordered, fitness, putting practice, and maybe a few indoor lessons if I can find a decent coach. I'm afraid of tinkering, it can have unwanted results.
Anybody have winter golf trips planned or other winter golf activities?

Back in New York, still going strong.
No plan to stop unless ground is snow covered.
