Bummer. Hard to swing like you don't care when you really do. I followed along with a 2 HC at the regional at Locust a couple of decades ago. He missed it too.

What # did it take to qualify?
The scoring has gotten better in the last 20 years, it used to be something like 6-8 over would get you in most state events. Now it usually 2-5 over.
US am 30 years ago was usually around even for 36 now it 2-5 under.

Game has gotten easier for the amatuer with the equipment changes. 14 y o girls can out drive Nicklaus at his peak. Bigger groves. Tuneable clubs. Allowing range finders.

Was able to play Bushwood this week. Gnarly 30+mph winds off the Lake. If you are unfamiliar with this tract you will have a chance to watch the Celebs give it a go on TV in 2 weeks. http://americancenturychampionship.com/

Riverdale Dunes, Buffalo Run, Interlocken, Walnut Creek, Legacy Ridge, Indian Peaks, TPC Berthoud (farther out), for good public tracks. Arrowhead or Fossil trace for good views/interesting setups. Let me know if you’re interested in playing Interlocken GC in Broomfield. Only Semi-private but if I book you under my name you get my guest discount. I think it’s like $65 w/cart, unlimited balls, etc. Only for Minnesotans ya know.

Edgewood is such a fun course. Haven't been golfing over on that side of the lake in a while, need to go back sometime this summer. On the Tahoe note, Old Greenwood is in great shape right now. Surprisingly quick recovery with the snow in late May. Coyote Moon was pretty good too. Tahoe Donner is trashed and still has several temporary greens.

Awesome stuff, much appreciated! Looks like we are playing CG on the 3rd straight from the airport, Fox Hollow early on the 4th, and eyeing up Interlocken on the 5th prior to Dead And Company in Boulder (got the Vail corporate account covering that one). Im a Fossil Trace veteran at this point so probably going to skip it this time around. I'll have to look into the other tracks for our Saturday round!

Ever played Arrowhead? A little out of the way depending where you're staying but worth the drive from Denver IMO, but not Boulder. Or at least it was 10 years ago when I played it.

Whistler golf club on Canada Day did not disappoint! Great course, friendly service. Apparently it's one of the 'easier' courses in the area. Shot a 97, not bad for rental clubs. Couldn't dial in the driver so ended up shooting irons off most tee's, which made me struggling to reach the green in good time. If you've played here then you know the 16th hole. Tried and failed to get over. Did the weak layup second shot. We might be coming back to shave a few strokes before weeks end.

You just play it as it lies, unless there’s a carcass on or right in front of your ball.

Made a vow I would play everyday this week. Kids are in camp...I'm on vaca...wife working

So far so good. I've played so much in the past 3 weeks that my body is destroyed. I'm scoring well but tired driver swings starting to get worse

It's a good problem for now

Great day at JH Golf and Tennis yesterday with three great buds. Played the 6800yd blues 71.6/129, a stretch for my 24 handicap, but stayed inside my own game and scored well at 50/48. Bogeys on 5 of the 6 hardest holes, missed one tee ball, but found it a foot in to the shit. Shortened the driver backswing up a hair and it's down the middle almost every time. Greens had to be at 12, fastest i've played in a good while, only a few 3-putts. Great day on a great course with great partners.

i've been helping my golf buddy paint his house and stain his fence and he got me a very nice thank you: barely used callaway epic sub zero 3 wood. he loaned me his old war bird last year but i prefer a lower profile fairway wood. he let me try his epic 3 wood last week and i put it through the green from 200 out the first time i used it. got a text from him yesterday telling me to stop by his house and pick up a delivery.

    very thoughtful and awesome!
