A new to you club in your bag that is long and true will stay there as long as you love it. The 21 deg Hippo Final Decision with brass insert and waving sole that a fellow league member gave me 20 years ago still flies to where I tell it most of the time and I forgive it for any miss.

    I use titleist 906f2 5W and 985 3H. Never leaving the bag...they are puuuure.

I play the 985 3H with steel shaft about 3/8 over standard 3i length...which is a lot shorter than factory hybrid length. Thinking about adding another 1/4 of length with same x100 shaft. I have a lot of control with it and yardage gap well from 4i 3H 5W

played 9 with the boy at redtail. first round with the new 3 wood. first shot, topped it into the hazard. second perfect, third perfect, fourth perfect, fifth, on the green from 200. 41 on the front 9, best by at least 2 strokes at redtail. 14 putts with several long lags. 5 pars, 3 bogeys, 1 double. had to quit cuz the boy has a playdate. love the new 3wood.

Did you use the driver off the tee at the beginning and move to the 3wood at some point? I don't remember doing that but there is a lot that I don't remember.

i was hitting only 3wood off the tee for a long time because i couldnt hit my driver straight and it was traumatizing me. i have zero problem opting to hit 3w off the tee. i have no idea what 4matic is rambling about. i only started hitting driver regularly in the past 18 months. of the 5 shots with the 3 wood today, only 2 (3 including the top into the hazard leading to penalty and retee) were off the tee and only 1 was instead of a usual driver. the other 2 shots were from the fairway.

I know what he is talking about. In theory a 3 is straighter. I can hit a 3wood almost as far and as far off line as my driver.

yeah i get that, but it's not that i don't know that or am unwilling to do it at all so the sarcasm doesn't really apply unless he's just cranky. i didn't discover anything new today other than i enjoy the new 3w and hit it well today. i only hit 2 from the tee. i hit driver 230-240 normally, though i have hit 260-270 a couple times recently. i hit the old warbird 200ish. i would say the new one was 210ish so far.

Exactly, been doing that for years. But right b4 I was forced to stop for a little rehabilitation, I was smashing the driver straight it won't last long

Almost every male 16+HC that I play with tries to swing the driver faster than any other club. It's not how, it's how many

Fun couple days. Played my best ever round on Friday with a 79 (40 - 39), I had been stuck on 81 many times, started with 4 bogies in the first 5 again, was just like CaddyShack when it clicked, I went 8 of 9 on the back with GIR's, just couldn't miss, not the hardest of courses (115/69 @ 6300yrds.). Still left a few shots for improvement. Followed it up on the home course with an 86 which is my index #....so that was good too, had 3 solid looks at Eagle, reached 2 par 5's in 2 and had a chip on a a short par 4 stop a foot short. Hard game this is.

Played Tuesday, Friday & Saturday last week...my life sucks!

Just need to keep the self- immolation to a minimum.
I'm cool with this, as long as you Kirkwood Bro Brah's stay away from Heavenly when 88 closes- TahoeBc

    Fore! Who's playing golf, yo-

    How did he do???

    Quick 18 after work.
Had an eagle putt at a short par 5 but settled to a par (ie. 3 putted!!!).
Took 2.45 to finish 18 hole.

i need an eagle, too! i have never had one and only had like 5 legit chances!

    soon!

the boy did great. it was non-competitive so we weren't sharing scores and some weren't keeping score but he shot 64 on a par 36. had a couple par chances on 8 and 9 but settled for two bogeys. he loved it. he's strong-willed and unafraid. next tournament is aug 20 AND we just found out that he gets to walk with me while i am scoring rounds at the web.com tournament so he's jacked. all the volunteer administrators remember him and are happy to have him around again.

it was a good day and now i'm sitting here watching him at soccer practice.

i got to be his caddy, too, which will only happen a few more times because they only allow parent caddies in the non-competitive tournaments.

    That's awesome.

Yeah...you have to stay a shot ahead of the player as a parent spectator so you can't coach
