Cloquet CC, in-laws have been members for 15 years. It’s like having your own private course.

Nice!!
A few people feel the rain. Most people just get wet.

I was a complete piece of shit out there today
Adjusted my driver to higher loft, which opens the face. HUGE mistake
Missed a lot of greens...left a lot of chips short
I was really struggling to read the fairly strong wind too. It was swirling at times and really making things difficult
Somehow walked away winning all my bets but still felt like shitIf it's green, smoke it...if it's pink, poke it

Played (like shit) yesterday and my cart mate was 87 YO guy the group calls geezer Bob, who shot his age or better a few times in the last month. This guys just walks up to the ball, lines up quickly, and swings, usually hitting the ball solidly down the fairway. He was off a bit yesterday and shot a 95, but it was great to see somebody able to play golf at that age, never mind play well.
I pulled a shot just into the drink on a shortish par 4. THe ball was sitting up about a foot from the edge so i took off my shoes and socks, got in, to the slime and played it without losing my balance on the swing and falling in. Got a round of applause from the group on the green on the other side of the drink when i whacked it ~ 90 yards onto the fringe. Unfortunately I took 3 shots from there and that was the highlight of my day. I usually am able to do one or two things well, but yesterday nothing was working.

Shit
I've never had one and I've been single digit handicapper for 30 yrs
I've had so many close calls it's stupid. I've lipped out and been a foot behind the hole a bunch of times. Imagine the feeling of seeing that ball mark directly in front of the hole, and your ball sitting on the other side.
I was just thinking I'm so overdue that hole in one insurance might not be a bad ideaIf it's green, smoke it...if it's pink, poke it

Twice less than a putter head away, and one time whiffed a drive on a par 3 -rolled off T-box, hit in from there

i also got him a youth on course card. $30 a year and he pays $5 green fees at courses all over the state and something like 650 nationwide as well. i have a players card that has free golf tee times at city courses so the two of us can play 12-3 4 days a week and after 3 on the weekends for $5 total. he might have to pay $5/9, i'm not sure. in any case, he loves it and it's a great way for the two of us to do it often and cheaply. the par 3 is perfect.
