First day the range was open in MN today. Very few miss hits. Strong start to the season. I can already feel it a bit in my back. Gotta get those golf muscles in shape. Still a few weeks before the courses open. Still snow around and it’s wet.

The old timer I took lessons from (RIP) told me at least my clothing makes me look like I play golf...

I mentioned to the pro that I could hit first 8-10 shots in a row from the mats solid and on the sweet spot but struggled on the course. He joked that I should take a mat out on the course with me when I play. Well, this winter they have been using a mat on the tee box of our 187yd par 3 17th. I usually use a 5 iron on the hole and miss the green 9 times out of 10. Dropped the ball on the mat and hit my 5 to pin high and 10' right of the cup. Missed the birdie by an inch. I was using my 3 wood to putt with so an excuse.
A few people feel the rain. Most people just get wet.

    Fore! Who's playing golf, yo-

During the winter at St. Andrews, you have to carry a small mats to hit off of.
You gonna do so well in Scotland during the off season, wooley!!!

    Ranch Club.

Driving range hasn't been open this week (weather), but I'd expect to see people back out on Fri/Sat/Sun. No official announcements. I'm seeing standing water from snow melt and on the greens. I'd be surprised if they open the course before April 1st.

Interesting. The conditions look pretty good this week for a major dry out. For powder skiing, not so much.

    Yes.
North Carolina has no travel restrictions but New York does.
To come back, I had to take a COVID test within 3 days of departure and quarantine for 3 days upon arrival in New York.
4th day take another COVID test and if both tests are negative, I’m good to end the quarantine.
All that end on April 1st in New York.

Last week presented a few days of the option of playing golf and skiing - not an every day occurrence in the garden state.
Tried to talk my boss into letting me out to no avail...

Course opened on Friday. Play starts at noon. I took half day PTO and played this afternoon. Shot a good score for 18, but was only playing 9.

Walking only, but club took deliver of a fleet of new carts for this summer. Small parts of snow around the course, but it played fairly well.

We should have a Missoula mag golf outing this summer.

I'd be up for that. I was also considering a Mag beer session for last weekend at the bowl (depending on sun). Could backpack some up the lift and meet at the A-frame

Very nice. Bayonet is a world class old school course imo. I like it better than Olympic Club or Harding Park.

Just joined a new club this year and got out three times this week! I love learning how to navigate around a new course.

Talked to the greenskeeper couple days ago and he was almost ready to turn on the irrigation to water cause it's so dry...in March!

A spot for a team finally opened up in a hard to get into league in my town at a nice course and I got the spot.

It is going to be nice to cut out of work early once a week and play 9 holes. Every week the 9 you play flip flops from the front and back.

It’s an old man league and my team will be one of the youngest, hopefully one day I’ll be considered one of the “old timers”.

    Time to hit the range!!!
