    Fore! Who's playing golf, yo-

I need 5 wood for the distance. 19 to 24 degree hybrid works best for me. 19 hybrid being a 200yd club for me.

My last bag was Lydia Ko’ish:

    10.5 D
    15 3w
    19 5w
    19/24/27 hybrid
    6-pw
    50/54/88

Hmm....my 4iron is like my 220 club these days but my 5w is now like 250. There’s a big gap I need to fill/figure out. There are two man sized par 3s at my home course that range from 210-245 so it’s a distance that I really need to dial in. I would maybe use it going for a couple par 5s too... I probably need to go get fitted for some hybrids.

My 5W and 4i are exact same distances as you.

I use a 21* hybrid with steel shaft, cut down to about .5" longer than 3i length. This takes about 5 yds off of what a full length graphite shafted hybrid would be and gives me good control.

It's a 230-235 club for me. Graphite, full length would be 240-245 and would spray more.

I use an old Titleist 585H and I absolutely love it...will never get rid of it. It has an amazing ball flight and feels like a marshmallow on a good strike. Really well weighted...doesn't hook like some can

Excellent thank you. This is exactly the kind of stuff I need to consider. I’ve been trying to fit a square peg in a round hole for a couple years now. I’m sick of trying to take 10% off a 5w or put 110% on a 4i. Rarely ends well.

You guys ever play with choking down. Get three grips in one club and five yards or so per grip. My issue was always adjusting stance and hitting it clean to be consistent. Well that and practicing and playing enough to even consider being consistent.

If I need to take some off of a mid/long iron I hit a fade. Hit a draw if I need a little more. Choking down never seems to work for me but I never rally practiced that shot.

I put a 5w in my bag to fill the 230 gap but have slowly realized that its a rare distance for me. I played a 230 par 3 today and couldn't muscle a flushed 19* hybrid there. Its bizarre, my 5i is 200-210 - 4i goes about the same distance, just lower, and i have the 3hb at 210-220.

Yeah...I don't do this only for distance control, but it's definitely part of the equation.

Pin placement...ball flight window tell me if it makes sense.

In other words.. If pin is on the left and I'm in between clubs are I'll hit more loft every time and swing hard in draw stance. Pin on the right and I'm in between...take more club and smooth swinging fade

Played in annual golf/bocce tourney today. 9 holes then single elimination bocce tourney. Cumulative points for all.

2 man teams and I play with same guy every year. I never do well in the golf portion...my partner is a bit of a challenge to play with and he takes me off my game pretty quickly every year (super high anxiety guy with a temper and he tries to really overthink every thing...basically does his best to make sure I can't relax)

We've finished top 3 overall every year because we crush people in bocce. I think we've missed finals once and won bocce every other year.

This year we won bocce and finished second overall by a point...one stroke in golf. Cost us hundreds.

We start a bocce tournament at work next week. I've played a few times over the years, but ain't very good. Bocce and golf combo sounds like fun.

That's a great strategy, props for having the confidence to pull clubs based on that. I'd guess only one or two of ten dentists can hit a fade and draw on command. Sure is fun when the shot pictured just flies on track and sticks it though!

I had that happen for me twice Friday. My fades and draws are too often recovery shots to somewhere near the green. I play some narrow , fast tracks with small greens.

    Can be a rough sport:

PLYMOUTH - Doctors were unable to reattach a man’s finger after it was bitten off during a brawl at a golf course, according to the chief of Plymouth police.

The incident happened just before sunset Friday at the Southers Marsh Golf Club in Plymouth. Two foursomes were on the 18th hole when the fight broke out, Police Chief Michael Botieri said.

Someone called 911 reporting that two men had gotten into a fight, and one person bit off the other’s finger.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they discovered the 57-year-old victim had his finger bitten off to his knuckle. He was transported to a local hospital, but Botieri said doctors couldn’t save the finger.

Derek Harkins, 46, is charged with assault and battery, mayhem and disturbing the peace.

The victim, a man from Marshfield, was not identified.

Southers Marsh Golf Club is routinely rated as one of the best value public golf courses in New England.

Anyone ever work as a marshal at a PGA event?

I have a chance to work as a marshal on one of the holes Sun/Mon at the Dell Championship. Trying to figure out if it will be a fun time or just 6 hours a day standing around.

You have to pay ($95) to volunteer but the perks seem pretty good, tourney shirt, jacket, hat, lunch/dinner, my pass would be good for any day, plus 2 passes for friends.

Need to see a video from the front. Shoes don't need to match the outfit. I don't think you are "cracking the whip". Maybe the back swing is too long. Not staying behind the ball. Problems that I fight. Did you ever feel a swing where it felt like the ball was made of butter so you barely felt contact and your club head pulled you into a full balanced follow through?

I've marshalled at the Barclays (started calling it the Northern Trust this year) 3 times and will be doing it again this coming weekend in north Jersey. I've done Plainfield 2x and Liberty National once. I can walk to Plainfield from my house, but the eye candy at Liberty National was off the charts, which made it worth the hassle with the traffic and parking.

You have to pay to volunteer for that also, and I just found out "volunteers" pay to work most, if not all, PGA events. That being said, it is well worth it. You can be standing in the fairway 30' from Phil hitting a shot, standing on the outskirt of the green when they are putting. It's pretty amazing to see these guys up close and it was my first PGA event. YOu can pay $150 at a football game and need binocs to see the players. Just do it!

    That's awesome Wyeaster.

Done and confirmed for 18th green Sun/Mon. The buddy I’m doing it with has worked the 18th green for years so he hooked me up to work with him.
