I hit off a lot of mats the winter before I got it. I didn’t this year and so far I have been fine…knock wood.
Yeah, hitting off mats can definitely be a cause. Switching to graphite shafts can help as well.

Doesn’t have to be graphite. There are soft steel shifts. Larger grips can help too.

Yes it does. If you hit off mats that's the cause...learned the hard way. Those straps work well...had to wear one for a year or I couldn't even play
If it's green, smoke it...if it's pink, poke it

Lahinch was completely brown from drought when I played it. Paired up with locals as walk ons. Cool local scene and The Cliffs of Mohrer. Did you avoid the rain at Waterville?

Played Ballybunion once in heavy wind. Got off the plane and get directly to the club and we're on box. Blast thru the suitcase in a haze of jet lag and no sleep to get golf stuff on. First tee and I'm staring at an old cemetery. I'm just like f-me don't hit it into the grave yard. It's not that hard to miss it, but I'll never forget staring at it. Somehow I managed to miss it and started with a par. Downhill from there! Got to a par 3 dead into the wind and the caddie says to all of us...everything you got! I was short!

Doonbeg was fun for sure. Was there before orange bought it. I really liked Waterville also. Ireland is special and the caddies made it even better..."oh Sean, you're in the shit again!" I heard that a few times.

    Enjoy it!

Crazy 9 holes tonight as a sub in the old league. Had two GIR and 3 putted one of them. But had only one putt on 6 holes to a 39.

It was suppose to rain the whole time at Waterville but the weather held up once again, sprayed some mist and that was it.
But Tralee had 40-45mph wind that turned into boarder line unplayable.

Doonbeg was nice but not sure I want to go back.
Felt like bit of an adult playground.
I heard "unlucky" so many times while I was playing 10 rounds in Ireland.

We are back last Thursday and still recovering physically and financially.
Once I regain some energy and time, I'll write up a trip report about Scotland/Ireland.

Finally got the cap below where I started the year. Lots of work ahead and much doubt if I can shave another 3 shots off where I am to get to my previous low in 2016. (No golf from 6/17 - 6/20) Putting and short game are ok, mental game is fragile, ball striking sucks, although I'm driving it with a more athletic move than ever. Not long by any means, but good ballflight and lots of FIR.

You didn’t miss much at Tralee. Probably the most forgettable from my Ireland trip.

Yeah, I stayed at Doonbeg and it was pretty chill back then. I've played all over and I honestly don't remember some of the courses that well because it was kind of a blur of golf, beer, and food. I've been over twice and the second time we went to Scotland also. Tralee was pretty cool...it may have been pretty flat relatively speaking? We played the K club and after playing links courses it was nice but I would have rather been back at a links. I think I liked Waterville and Lahinch the best. I'd like to go back to Ballybunion because I only played it that one time in a complete haze.

    My favorite was probably Waterville.
Old Head was beautiful to look at but Waterville is a golf course.
Good shots are rewarded and bad shots are penalized.
    A very fair course.

Sounds like a fun trip. How did your wedge play go?

Avoid full wedge swing the whole trip.
Lots of bump and runs and putting outside greens.

My golf game summed up from last week’s league play:
    1- Par
    2- triple bogey
    3-bogey
    4- birdie
    5- double bogey
    6- par
    7-double bogey
    8- par
    9- six on a par 3

    Jesus I need some consistency.

^^ Good job on the par 3's.

Yesterday was exceptionally quick round due to the weather condition.
Hot temperature and few showers scared off people so we were able to finish in 4 hours.
Normally can take anywhere between 4.5 to 5.5.

Got it. 4 hours is great. Makes it a lot easier to keep one's focus.

Was play in Ireland and Scotland quicker than the US?

    Oh, yeah.
They are more like 3.5 to 4 hour rounds.
Longer than 4 is consider as 5.5 here.
    Those golfers were moving.

I was playing Saxon ~1992 or 3 got to the 4th hole where there were 3 foursomes waiting on the tee so I walked off. After many 5+ hour rounds at Saxon, Maple Moor, Eisenhower, Lido, and Bethpage I was so disgusted w the pace of play I quit golf for a number of years, then joined Doral and after 5 years joined a club in Armonk(but not the one you played.)

I'm at resort course now. My group usually gets the earliest tee-times so we get around in well under four hours. I've played in 2.5 as a single or twosome. It's not country club quality condition but it's decent.
