Push is ok in this case. When you lose it at the top with flat swing pull is a common miss.
I suggest thinking about a single wrist cock at the midpoint and firming up the left arm. Try to keep the club from going past parallel at the top. 3/4 swing is plenty. That’s not where swing speed is generated anyway.

Fore! Who's playing golf, yo-
Yeah.
My teacher keeps telling me to keep it at 3/4.
But when I see a ball (especially on tee), I turn into bull saw red.
Thanks for the advice.
Much appreciated.

I thought I heard you say that you felt the problem that you wanted to fix was that you are standing too close to the ball AFTER you hit it.
I practice swinging while holding a golf towel with my right arm pit to fight the chicken wing get the feeling of a more compact swing. That allows a lot of what 4matic suggests to do happen naturally. That said, during my last golf lesson the pro mentioned that I was over swinging. That was about 40 years ago and when I fix it I'm going to take another lesson.A few people feel the rain. Most people just get wet.

summerfield -- par 33 9 hole course in tigard. $8 with groupon. probably my best ball-striking day ever. hit one bad tee shot and one iron faded a bit and left me in an unfortunate spot that i followed with almost great chip on a tricky green leading to a disastrous 4 putt. but otherwise, i hit towering straight 3 woods and irons over and over. putted pretty well and lipped out 3. +8 for 9. it felt great. my last 3 rounds have been solid and i feel like i'm back on the edge of a breakthrough.

not getting camped out at address but keeping it relaxed and brief and slowing my takeaway have made all the difference. they both work against my tendency to get my lower body too planted and not getting my hips through and then coming over the top. i've also made a concerted effort to straighten up my left arm, which has had the effects of increasing my shoulder rotation, shortening my backswing for more stability and allowing me to start my swing from the ground up. oh yeah, and balance. those are the things i've been working on enough to not be thinking about them too much when i play.

After a summer of really mediocre golf I finally put together a decent number. 76 on Friday against a mouthy shit talking partner. Felt good. My wife says I play too much golf to be an 12...yesterday she says “maybe you don’t suck after all “

Hmmmm...most of the really tasty clubs I know of don’t have tee times....I’m intrigued...nother hint? It’s a fun game

Played some Fri, Sat, and Sun. Private club that's closed for the season but they leave the flags in for home owners. GREAT weather and nobody around. Hit the ball well off the tee and irons/wedges were ok....made zero putts...zero. That'll do it for me for this season.

Played thu, sat sun in Sedona. OakCreek(RTJ Sr/Jr track) Sedona golf resort and Seven Canyons (Weiskopf) all nice courses in gods country. Unreal views. Relatively cheap greens fees compared to Scottsdale high season. I'll be back.
