Squeezed in 9 at Peacock Gap last night and shot 37. “We’re getting there...”

Closed my season down yesterday with my second best score of the year. Felt extra good because my game has been slipping backwards the whole year. It actually has me excited to play again next year... although that’s 7 months away. Now it’s time to wax the boards, Nov 13 opener!

Had my hole/shot of the season Saturday.
18th hole 525 yard par 5, smoked a nice down hill drive, definitely got some help from the elevated tee box.
Now for the shot of the season:
I had 230 over a small creek to the pin for my second. Absolutely flushed a beautiful 4 iron to 10 feet.
Of course I missed the putt. Tap in birdie.
It is shots line that they keep us coming back.

Fore! Who's playing golf, yo-
^^^^Nothing beats a flushed long iron. When it happens it always feels so effortless.
I got in my last round for the season, with a buddy, over a week ago before the snow covered the course. I’ve been playing with this guy off and on all season who plays to an 18 or 20, the dude has a crazy amount of athletic talent but lacks course management skills. I’ve been beating it into his head all season and it finally all came together for him. He didn’t look at the scorecard once all day and when we were teeing off on 18, he looked at me and said ‘I feel like I have a decent round going, but I don’t even know where I’m at’....I just told him I wasn’t sure, even though I knew damn well where he was at. He proceeded to drain a 15 footer for par and shoot a 78. I told him as soon as the putt dropped and he was pumped. It was his first time breaking 80. That was just as much fun for me to be a part of as anything.
I had such a great season. First time playing more than a round a year since high school for me and I am hooked again. I burned out of golf as a junior golfer, the non stop competition and pressure started to make the game unbearable fit me. I think I played over 50 rounds this year and my game is getting back to where it was a junior. I’m still hitting a few shots every round that make me scratch my head in confusion, but that’s always been the case.

Last week of daylight savings time. Last time for my 3:48 Tuesday but was able to get out Wednesday for a full 18. ☺
Looking back towards the second green from the fifth fairway Tuesday evening.
Wednesday was wet from rain the night before but the sun poked out for a bit.
15th from the tee. Flag is way out on the right.

Last round at Bethpage Black before the closure.
Sunny, mid 40’s absolutely gorgeous day.
This picture sums up the story of my game today.
It was a beat down.

I'd take a drop to save a stroke. Or have at it with a wedge to see what happens.
Nice looking day.
My fav Upstate course popped into my FB feed today.
A few people feel the rain. Most people just get wet.

Depending on how the weather shakes out tomorrow, I might have gotten the last 9 on the course. First time playing with my own clubs. Beautiful way to end the day. Time to bring out the skis.

Got my father in laws caddy so high today he was useless. Spent the afternoon looking for balls with him. Nice day though. Shorts in New England in November. Played yesterday with guys that were playing a $50 nassau against each other, so the $45 I lost in our 5&2 was child’s play . Not too many laughs with them. Rather play a 2 & 1, talk shit, win $5 and buy $20 worth of drinks.
Skipping the par 3 tournament Sunday. May hang em up for the year.

Glad the annual beach trip was again successful you lucky sob . Hope you made that putt for a circle?
66° and sunny in NoVT for early November after there was snow on the ground Tuesday brought the sticks out of retirement from a 2 week hiatus. Not many places open so some traveling was required but well worth the trip. Had to bring this guy in for a ruling on 15. Forecast looks good for a few more rounds before a full switch to winter mode.

Drove to Massachusetts to see friends.
Two rounds of beautiful fall golf with 3 friends.
“Almost” ace was a plus.

Thanks Rock Chalk. I've been there a handful of times, and would agree with it being high on the list of best places on earth! I actually got to play the sheep ranch long ago. That day, long ago, stands as my single best day of golf all time. To have the course to ourselves, literally for the day, was ridiculous. I am excited to see what it's like now that it is a real course.
So I can get my "what's your favorite course " game on prior to getting there...which is your favorite? How do you rank them? Personally, I say: Pacific > Bandon > Trails > Old Mac. I love the preserve and the practice facilities. I look forward to sliding Sheep Ranch into that list... That said, it is splitting hairs as they are all phenomenal and tough to pick the best...

I never got the chance to play the original Sheep Ranch - will always wonder if Doak holds a grudge for not getting the opportunity to finish the build. I am lucky enough to have a good friend with a place on the coast just south of town and we usually end up there twice a year, this year we had the chance to play the most recent iteration of SR and holy wind. Amazing layout, no bunkers and the shared greens are a cool twist. Probably the best opening hole I've ever played.
Gun to my head im going Bandon>Trails>Sheep>Pacific>Old Mac
