    .
    FYI Scarpa says:

"The Fall ’18 run of boots have been beefed up to prevent this from happening again."

They're replacing mine as well and have two day shipped a new pair. Hopefully it is indeed true that this year's are more durable.

Anybody have a pair of this year's boots that have cracked?

For me it solved the last remaining nitpicky issues Ive had with the boots and I couldn't be happier. I am 27,5 she'll with a 28 wrap. Thick footbeds.

Did you guys have to send your boots in to warranty?

Mine have developed the cracks (bummer after I spoke so highly of them), but are still usable. Would prefer to keep skiing them as I need them for work until new ones arrive.

Bummer dude. I had to send mine back but I asked to send them after the replacements had arrived. They asked for a credit card number in case I didn't return the old ones but were happy enough to oblige.

Yup drilled the ends of the cracks to keep them from expanding too much and reached out to Scarpa Europe. We'll see what they say, initial contact sounded positive.

Mine cracked near the toe earlier this winter after about 30-40 days on them. I reached out to the warranty department and I had a brand new pair shipped to me within a couple weeks. I didn't have to send in my cracked pair. Stoked on their customer service but hoping the new pair holds up better.

In Europe, so slightly different warranty policies. I need to send them in to get new lowers. I'd be more upset, but I do have around 200 days on them

And.... Scarpa issues a recall for Maestrale from fall 2017 run - info here: https://unofficialnetworks.com/2019/...lty-ski-boots/

Scarpa's recall webpage - ID your model here: https://www.scarpa.com/product-recall Basically - look in your shell's interior cuff where the size is stamped in the plastic - are there 5 horizontal dots? if so, you're 2018 and no recall. No dots? Recall. Scarpa's webpage is really good with pics.

No problems with my fall 2018 RS2 - think they just figured out they needed a thicker mold at that point or something.
    sproing!

Was provided a return shipping label to send boot shells only in for “repair”. Returning in 1-3 weeks.

Half correct. ANY number of dots = Fall 2018 production run = no recall. No dots = fall 2017 run = recall.

    From Scarpa's recall page:
If there is a series of “dots” molded in this area (Figure 3 & 4), then that indicates Fall 2018 production and your boots are NOT affected by the recall. (Please note that this could be one or more “dots”).
    (emphasis added)

My RS shells have 3 dots. My wife's orange shells have 5 dots. The orange shell on Scarpa's recall page has 9 dots. All are from 2018 production run, thus not subject to recall.

I noticed Telemark Pyrenees is highlighting the Maestrale RS 2020 on their front page.

    I can't decipher marketing blurb like :
For 2020 Scarpa have updated their Maestrale / Gea range of ski touring / freeride boots, the best-selling AT boots ever produced. The latest generation boots push the envelope of what is possible with models that are lighter, stiffer and even more ergonomic for efficient backountry performance. The Maestrale RS is a stiffer and more powerful version of the popular Maestrale and the latest iteration raises the intersection of freeride performance and backcountry functionality. The Maestrale RS has a stiff yet light carbon-infused Grilamid shell as well as an all-new power strap featuring RECCO Technology for increased avalanche searchability.
    or :

    Scarpa Cayman Pro Sole
    Asymmetric Spoiler XT
    Thor Buckle
    Evo V-Frame
    Air Ventilation
    Spped Lock Plus
    Web Frame Carbon Design
    BI-Injection Shell
    Power Strap Plus
    Finger Strap
    Thor Rack
    Evo Tongue
    HRS Strap
    Wave Closure System
    Dynafit Certified Tech Inserts
anyone know what's changed, apart from the new blue color?
