Surf & Inshore Fishing 2011 - Full Video

Hey All - Below is the full 35 minute version of the 2011 SIFF project. The full song list is underneath the clip. Please watch it full screen + HD.

As past years, the premise is pretty simple; I drag cameras around from March to December in search of striped bass, bluefish and false albacore, point them at the water and then edit what comes out. These project are all self shot and edited, so if I'm not holding the camera it is clamped on some aluminum tubing, on a tripod, or on a head. The primary cameras this year were a Panasonic GH1, GH2, GoPro and a VioSport1.5.

    A couple notes:
    1) It is 35 minutes, so no need to tell me it's too long.

    2) Watching with your favorite beverage while wearing headphones is highly recommended.

    3) I have watched the Montauk footage at the end at least 200 times in the course of editing and every time I am awed by the world class...WORLD CLASS fishery occurring at times out there and other places in the Northeast.

    4) As fishermen/woman, we ask a lot of those close to us to understand why we do what we do. I love my family above all else and doing this each year requires time and understanding on all sides and I am thankful for their (sometimes very sporadic) support.

    5) If you are in or near NYC and have any desire to see it on a larger screen, with beer, please let me know and I will make it happen. I don't know exactly how, but I will and it will not be for personal profit, only a good time.

    Thanks for watching

Worth the wait. Excellent work. The time and effort it took to get all that footage, and to edit it all, really shows. I'm know I'm going to watch that again many times in the next month before our season gets going.

Hope to get you up here on the N. Shore of MA this season.

I should return mid June and will check back then about this. Best friends dad is always out targeting GBFT, I used to go out with them before I got hooked on sighting for stripers at home. He is always talking about seeing footballs on the fly. I am sure he has room for 2 more aboard his duffy 35. Just bring beer.

and nice work on the vid.

Just got a chance to watch it all the way through and that is awesome. I haven't watched tons of fly fishing movies but that was as good or better than any I've seen recently, and you did it all yourself. Fucking impressive, thanks for sharing.

    Alright Mush!

Just got down to watching the whole edit. Excellent job on the cuts.
I absoulutely enjoyed it, especially the travelogue component and seeing what it takes to get to the fish there.

The soundtrack was cool too, I'm not too familiar with that type of music but it really worked well.

Looking forward to more. Good luck this season, (you should get out here one year, you'd love it)

This season changes: no more bottom paint, seats gone and replaced with a leaning post, deck done with kiwigrip, 2 swiveling rod holders added up forward (for tuners), headers and manifolds checked, NSE8 added, Structurescan added, BSM-1 added, new battery switch and vsr, shore power battery charger, stuff I don't remember.

    Agreed. Love the inboard.

...one thing, and this is totally an aesthetic and personal thing, but I don't like the look of the cap above the black line on the bow. To me, it gives a chunky over sleek look. My eye just likes the older Seacraft lines of the bow better. Don't get me wrong though, it's a baker's dozen super models compared to the dumb rock I stand on.
    But, mmm:

...and for all I know this boat could be 70% water, but it just looks so nice.

Only reason I don't like the Seacraft lines is the straight deckline is boring and dumb, the classic flat transom line to the Hatteras flair (kept subtle) is far FAR more interesting.

There's a ton of em up here too, so not so unique. Shockingly enough (even with how rare the Mako 23 inboards are) there is 2 of em here in Padanaram including mine.
