Well I skied my first 14er yesterday so I figure its time to stop lurking in the padded room and actually contribute something other than hours of wasted time...
Two of my friends and I had a "research day" with no class so, naturally, we decided to go skiing. We wanted to get high, so we settled on Mt. Democrat as it is a relatively easy/short 14er. The chica in our group brought along her new pup, Rose, who felt snow for the first time at Kite lake and then proceeded to run laps around us on the ascent. We left the Springs around 6:45 and after a $200 dollar speeding ticket made it to the TH at 10:00. We initially thought we were gonna be too late but ended up finding perfect snow for boot-packing on the ascent and great spring snow through the South face chutes on the descent. Towards the bottom the snow was slush but that's to be expected, made it back to the car around 1:15. Check out some pictures below:

All in all a great day on the snow.
