I use to not like pictures of me posted anywhere but when I got into mountain biking I had to lighten up or seem like a total pain in the ass so I just dealt with it.

Then I started getting messages from people telling me I inspire them, motivate them to do things they never thought they could...

I should put this in the “things I learned on TGR thread” but I had never heard of engagement as it relates to IG, and the discussion of the business and bots and all that is definitely news to me.

I think I got 100 likes on one of my pictures once. I think some of my followers might be bots, a couple are porn chicks.

Engagement is absolutely the biggest driver and stat for social accounts to translate directly into potential sales targets, as well as true brand following.

It is also easy to sniff out bots. Period. There was one ski shop that would leave sunglasses emoji on every post we did because they had it set to auto comment on #goskiingwithyourfriends.

We never cared too much about likes, but we did care about shares, comments, and especially messages and comments on instastories as you now know you have real eyes and followers hanging on your every post.

Also the difference between organic churn and trending vs paid is extremely apparent based on the accounts involved in said trending.

I used to say that about 90% of the shit I saw on Facebook. Which is why I unfollowed just about every "friend" I had and now only use it to follow business-related accounts and shit I'm actually interested in.

I don’t want to go down the gun rights path, but the 2A/gun rights community should be aware that they are being used by Russia and possibly other foreign actors. There is quite a bit of stuff about that in the news. A part of the reason that Russia likes to use the 2A/gun rights crowd is because if any of their stuff gets taken down there is sure to be blow back, making it harder for IG/Facebook to take those pages down.

Let me give you an example. A Russian foreign agent creates a 2A post on IG that is intended to divide the country. IG knowing that this post comes from a foreign agent takes it down. Other foreign agents in the 2A community point out that the page was taken down as a part of the leftist Silicon Valley censorship creating a stir within the 2A community.
