3 Lines, 3 Days, Some Pictures

It's been an amazing few days for skiing here in the Colorado High Country. Warm temperatures and copious sunshine have led to some great corn skiing conditions!

First up is Mountain Boy Peak, on 3/12. Started too late, so we skied some more mellow North facing. Not too many pictures from this one.

    Great Ridge Climb

    And some nice Chalky snow

Next up is the South Face/Couloir of Twin Peaks on Wednesday the 14th. I'd like to call this line the Sunrise Slot, since the North Couloir of Twin Peaks is Sunset Gulch. It's quite steep, narrow, and icy. Averages maybe 45ish degrees. Made for fun climbing and at-times-interesting skiing (/sidestepping.)

Booting up the bottom of the couloir.

    At an icy step.

At the bottom of the upper face, looking into the abyss of the Sunrise Couloir.

The Upper South Face. Steep in here, high 40's! Just act like you can't see the dirt on the right, thanks.

On the lower reaches of the face, just above the start of the narrows.

    Headed to the abyss.

Entrance exam for the Sunrise. Nothing like a 45*, 160cm wide slot to get the blood pumping.

    A skiable section.

Finally, the 3rd line is Brumley Peak, or a subpeak of Brumley. 3400' vert of 40* corn snow. I'll take it!

Again, slightly icy in spots. Low snow seems to have that affect.

    Thank god for ski crampons!

Nap Time to wait for the snow to soften.

    Fast turns off the top.

    Looking over the edge.

    And out the bottom.

Looks like fun! It's been a great week in CO, but it sure feels more like Memorial Day than St. Patty's
