Prostatitis and Kidney Stones?
Been pissing way too much for the last 6 months. Waking up at night, etc. Ongoing and worsening lower back/right flank pain as well. Piss started burning this week so I finally went to the urologist. I have an enlarged prostate with possible prostatitis. Doc thinks I may have a stuck kidney stone as well. On cipro for 2 weeks to see if there is any improvement. Back/side is really bothering me. Sharp pain woke me from a dead sleep last night.
Fuck. Enlarged prostate and possible stones at 28? If this pain gets worse I don't know what I am gonna go. I picked a bad couple years to get sober.

Prostate cancer? Just asking. You may never have seen the Seinfeld where Kramer had the kidney stone. Funny but scary. Sorry if I'm pithy but you're young ....I'm not. I just wonder.
It's not so much the model year, it's the high mileage or meterage to keep the youth of Canada happy

In a man of 28 with those symptoms STD's needs checked. Cipro is fine for a urinary tract infection, urologists love it. However if you are an active young athlete it can lead to tendon rupture so go easy. If you are an active athlete review this with your doctor as there are other drugs. If you have a stone and an infection thats a whole different kettle of fish. Do you have a CT scan that shows a stone?
Urologists are great but they look at the body through their own narrow lens. Be sure to have a general doctor looking for the basic things that may not be on the urologists to do list.
Get well.

I hope not. Doc didn't feel anything on my prostate. Just said it was "soft and enlarged".
Shit sucks. Really feel like something is wrong with my right kidney. Always tired by 1 or 2pm even with 8+ hours or sleep, exercise (although I feel short of breath ALOT), and a good diet.
Foamy piss as well as going 10+ times a day and waking up every night to piss.
Dizzy spells and just feeling "dumb" like I can concentrate, etc.
Basically just feel like a bucket of dicks everyday.

If things don't clear up soon, demand a CT scan. You never know what really is going on. Sounds like you've ignored symptoms for a while. No need to not figure out what it is ASAP.

I know that you have other symptoms that would certainly indicate otherwise, but the stuff mentioned above is consistent with a blood sugar/diabetes issue (incessant pissing, fatigue). If you used to hit the sauce pretty hard, all those sugars could have fucked with you. Just a thought.

Haven't touched a drop in 2 years and kidney function was 100% when last checked 9 months ago. Been eating better than ever as well.
Still feel like complete ass and it seems to be getting worse. Went on a short 2 mile mtb ride yesterday afternoon which was followed by dizziness, nausea, and bad kidney/back pain. I am at work now and feel like I am gonna fall over. Called the doc and left a message last night. Waiting to hear back.
You know you feel shitty when you wish they could put you into a medically induced coma for a few weeks.

Contrast CT Scan will show the stone(s) if that's part of the problem. I'm at the tail end of that nightmare right now, had a 14mm stone in my left kidney and got lithotrypsy about 2 weeks ago. Follow up xray next week, then stent removal on the 22nd if the stone is gone.. My second time doing this in 6 years. Good luck, and speedy recovery, this setback pretty much fucked me out of a ski season and a trip overseas in Feb. In the meantime, drink lotsa water, that's about all the urologist is going to tell ya.
Silent....but shredly.

No one can armchair quarterback this for you. Your complaints are worrisome. You need an evaluation and work-up by a competent doctor.
I commend you for seeing a doctor in the office and trying to work it out yourself. However, if you have pain, feel I'll, are getting worse and can not get in to be seen then just go to a decent ER, preferably around 7 am. Any ER has the tools to determine if this is something serious.
After the work-up if specific questions or controversies arise ask away but right now I would not let anyone diagnose you through their smart phone.
Sorry. Hope you can get seen soon.

The doc told me to wait it out and stay on the cipro till I am out. That will be in 4 days. Still having bouts of pain and dizziness. Was feeling ok this morning, but I just hit the wall and feel like sleeping on the floor at work. Not just tired, but very faint/dizzy, etc. Other times I will feel half decent. Its pretty random.
I woke up to piss 3 times the other night. My balls are kinda sore too, but I don't know if thats from the prostate issue or too much sex lol. My whole junk area feels kinda iffy.
Def no STDs which is good. Myself and my GF were both tested when we started dating.
I really just want to get a cat scan as I still feel like I must have some kind of kidney stone thing going on.

Avoid the bike. That is how I got prostatitis. An Alpha blocker like Tamsulosin helps relax things. An anti-DHT like finasteride shrinks the gland long term ,but not necessary if this if from short term swelling.

"Avoid the bike."
Its pretty much the only way I have any fun, or exercise other than sex. I am addicted to my bike right now. Don't know how I could stop riding, and my symptoms were here way way before I started riding again.
I am into week 4 of the cipro. Still pissing alot during the day, and every night. I drink at minimum 8+ glasses of water/day and I am always pretty thirsty.
Have had some serious bouts of sudden, sharp, take your breath away back pain.
On a ride last week I was in serious pain where I almost puked, followed rather shortly afterward by feeling great, and feeling the best I have in months the next day.
A couple days of feeling decent, then terrible back pains again. Always on the right side right where my kidney is. I am guessing I MUST have some kind of kidney stones or something.
Looking at my MRI pictures you can clearly see that my right kidney is enlarged.
All the doc keeps saying is to "keep taking the antibiotics".
Shit sucks.

Sounds to me (an MD) like time for a second opinion--if second opinion agrees you'll know you're doing what you can and if not . . .

First urinalysis was clear according to the doc. Finished my month of Cipro with no changes, only slightly better back pain. Cat-scan tomorrow.
Strange thing is that I used to have white milky piss sometimes. The first urologist said it was benign phosphaturia. I didn't have it once for like 4 months. Finished up cipro, and AFTER seeing the doc again on tuesday, I get the kidney pain (this time on the left side) followed immediately by burning piss (yellow) with the last 20% being the weird white chalky shit again. WTF. Its like straight up milk piss.

Waiting for the results of the CT scan I got last friday. My chest/shoulder has been hurting like shit since saturday. Everyday the pain seems to "spread out" more and more. WTF?
I have read that sometimes kidney stuff can lead to chest/shoulder pain. IDK, shit just has me baffled. If the urologist doesn't see anything on the CT scan he says his next step is to explore the bladder/prostate further.
The peeing all the time sucks, but its the chronic pain and dizziness/faintness/fatigue that really has me worried.
Party like a maniac and huck your meat off stuff for 10 years = body feels amazing.
Get sober, eat healthy, exercise properly, and stop throwing yourself off cliffs = feel like you are dying.
WTF?

CT scan shows swollen rt kidney and ureter. Doc thinks I must have recently passed a stone. If I keep pissing and having back pain in 2 weeks I will go in for more tests.

You can have a normal urinalysis with a completely obstructed kidney--only the urine from the normal kidney reaches the bladder (kind of like having someone do a drug urine test for you.) Is there CT contrast in the ureter below the swollen area. If not get a second opinion. If the kidney is completely obstructed it can be permanently damaged. Maybe get a second opinion in any case. This has been going on way too long, and if you've had an obstructing stone for all this time it should have been diagnosed long ago.

Thanks for the input. My symptoms are not improving and I have more fatigue and nausea lately. Could have sworn I pissed a little blood clot last night. Awoke this am with more pain than yesterday. Felt pretty weak/dizzy/nauseas today.
Guess I need to see another doc.

Getting an IVP tomorrow AM. Thought it was odd that the doc didn't call for a BUN/Creatinine blood test before the IVP to check kidney function. Called the radiology dept at the hospital and they even said I didn't need it, yet every hospital/doctor website says it is standard procedure before any contrasted CT scan and IVP. Hmmmmm?
Hopefully I don't die tomorrow when they pump a bunch of iodine into my blood.

IVP = normal. WTF?
Enlarged prostate, enlarged ureter, enlarged rt kidney. Bladder not emptying, pissing like 10+ times a day and every night. Kidney HURTS like a mother. Feel like shit most of the time, etc.
Getting a specialist asap. Shit is annoying.
