Got an appt with a specialist at columbia.
My urologist = fail. Didnt even call me back to offer ideas for a next step or to refer to another doc. I had to ask his secretary for my test results.
Gotta wait almost a month to see the next doc. Cant imagine this is good for my kidney. Anyone got some flomax I can schwill on?

I don't know how a urologist and a radiologist could "miss" a large stone after I have had an MRI, CT scan, and IVP.
I just cannot believe my urologist wouldn't even want to do a PSA blood test after he apparently became stumped. I mean WTF?
"Hmmmm, I don't know whats wrong. I guess I just won't call my patient back or even order any further simple test to rule things out"
I am scared to death of the dreaded prostate cancer.
I really wanna have kids, and I really like sex. All the horror stories about dudes who can never get it up again are scary....especially at only 28 years old.

Spoke with one of our very own Maggot doctors last week, and will finally see the urology specialist in NYC on Wednesday.
Still pissing 10-20 times a day. At least once a night. Back pain was very minimal until last week. Thursday afternoon I had started having some solid pain again and was feeling very ill/weak. Very hard to explain, but just sort of feel like I suddenly had all my energy/strength depleted within a few minutes. Just kinda like I was gonna faint. This was accompanied by peeing out a couple very small red specks and then one speck that looked flesh colored.
Right kidney has hurt more ever since.
Do kidney stones form very fast or something? I drink like 2-3 liters of water every day and eat healthy. WTF? 6-8 months of this shit and no answers...fucking sucks.

I had one lythotripsied 6 years ago and another one emerged that I got zapped earlier this year. And yes, there can be visible niblets in your urine if some of the stone comes out. Did you get a contrast CT Scan on the kidney? Sounds like your in f'in purgatory right now, hang in there......
Silent....but shredly.

at least you can sleep.when I had these problems I didnt pee abnormally during the day, but was up every 2 hours at night.
btw,you are way too young to have prostate cancer

Doc at Columbia today seemed to know what he was doing more. Said my prostate feels completely normal. He believes my back pain is purely muscular which I find hard to believe, but not entirely impossible since I have fucked myself up skiing and laying block in the past.
Still, pain coupled with weakness/fatigue, and urinating red specks = gotta be something else right?
He is doing more tests on my urine and I have to take a "urine diary" for 24 hours....aka piss in this little plastic hat so I can measure each urination and log it and then fax the doc my results. LOL.

Have fun with the urine log. My wife has had kidney stones on and off since our sophomore year in college and she had to collect all her piss to send off before they could finally pin down what was causing them. She has had pretty much every symptom you've described at one point or another, but they usually only lasted while the stone was passing or caught in her kidney/ureter, or the one time she got a secondary infection from one and spent a week in the hospital.
It seems highly unlikely all these docs could miss a stone caught somewhere for 3 months now but who knows. Once they figured out what was causing my wife's stones she hasn't had any since then, almost 5 years, so they can be manageable. Good luck, hopefully the new cock doc can give you some answers."They don't think it be like it is, but it do."

3 urologists and 75,000 urinations later and I still have no diagnosis. Finally found a good pcp and she ran a ton of bloodwork and a urinalysis. Bloodwork came back all healthy but with low testosterone. They didn't do a urine culture because the "sample wasn't large enough"even even though I filled the cup 2/3 full. They did find mucus and epithelial cells in my urine though.
Waiting on results from a second urinalysis. In the last week my balls, base of my dick, and pelvis area has steadily gotten sore. WTF? My load was pretty yellow about a week ago, but was normal again since. No pain with sex. Sorry for the details, but I'm stumped.
Anyone know a urologist in NJ/NYC who isnt an asshat and will treat someone who doesn't fit the classic "55 year old with BPH who we just give Flomax to and never see again" ???

Really sorry to hear you're still having problems.
The mucus and epithelial cells in the urine are normal.
I can't help you with another urologist--I'm not from your area, but if 3 urologists haven't found the problem it could well be a nonurologic problem--perhaps pinched nerves to the pelvic/genital area. Not my field so I'm really guessing here but it might be something to discuss with your personal doc.

I joined this forum (I don't even know what it's for, lol) just to respond to you.
I am 29, currently diagnosed with prostatitis. They put me on Bactrim which didn't seem to work, Keflex and Flomax after. Still on Keflex, discontinued flomax today (read below for why).
The flomax made me feel exactly as you described with your fatigue, lightheadedness, shortness of breath. I just went to my PCP today and he told me to get off the flomax. Hopefully it will help, I'm pretty sure it will since I felt just fine prior to beginning flomax.
Burning/discomfort in the perineum (taint), base and tip of the penis is also a symptom of prostatitis (so I'm told). When mine flares up I experience the same senstations.
I do NOT have the other symptoms you have, and I am not an MD. But, your complaint of lightheadeness, no energy, etc combined with flomax struck a chord for me. Don't stop taking any meds without talking to your dr but do talk to him/her.
Finally, see if avoiding caffeine, alcohol, and spicy foods (in other words most of life's pleasures) helps relieve the prostatitis symptoms. If you have not been limiting these aggravators it may take 1+ week of abstinence to notice any improvement.
Take advil too, it helps with the symptoms.
My understanding is that prostatitis is a bitch to treat because most of the time there is no bacteria present, yet something is causing the prostate and surrounding bits to swell. You're 28 I'm 29 and I totally get that getting some mystery disease which no one can cure totally sucks. But hang in there... and see if you can get off the flomax, I bet you will feel a lot less tired and crappy.
Let us know how it goes...

I think I finally found a good urologist. He thinks I may have a urethral stricture. Gonna get a scope inserted into my dick. Doesn't that sound fun?

Yeah, turned out I have a congenital narrow bladder neck. Doc tried to stretch it out during cysto. Basically he put a shoe horn in my dick!!!! Pissing hurt like a mother fucker for the rest of the day after that. It didn't really improve much. He put me on enablex to try and reduce the need to piss 15 times a day. I have seen some improvement for sure since it was almost 1.5 years ago. I quit the enablex though cause I am on meds for the crohn's and pissing alot is the least of my problems now.

Glad to hear yougot a diagnosis. Not a common problem; not surprised it took a while to figure out. I'm sure you and your docs know this but important to keep an eye on kidney function (creatinine clearance) over the years as the higher than normal bladder pressure can cause damage to the kidneys over time. Not fair to have Chron's on top of that. Not fair to have either one.

Bumping this threat cause I'm at my wits end dealing with Prostatitis and Kidney Stones for the past 3 years.
Been dealing with kidney stones for better than 15 years but that was a cake walk compared to having both problems. Uric acid is the main factor and I have increase citrates and avoiding foods that trigger gout.
My quality of life is seriously diminished to the point that I miss on way too much. Was suppose to join my dad and brother in Italy for 2 weeks but couldn't go (no pun).
I'm sick of meds done naturals but no long last effect. Medical MJ helps only to a certain point.
I'm now doing all the tests and scans for the 5th time but I've lost all hope.
WG it's been 3 years how are you now and besides what you stated in this thread have you done something else that helped?
Cheers

Kenny, just one thought, get checked for Hemochromatosis, it's quite common but radically under-diagnosed and totally treatable but essentially fatal if untreated. Can't hurt to see what's up. Hemochromatosis represents in a thousand different ways. But if your ferritin level is normal you can basically just cross it out, so it's worth looking at.

Well, it turns out that in spring 2015 they finally figured out that I had chronic appendicitis and not Crohn's, so I think my whole abdomen area was just inflamed and that my immune system was fucked up.
In the last 1.5 years I have really gotten my diet figured out and lost 20-25 pounds. I wasn't much overweight before, but now I am feeling amazing.
I'll have like 1 soda a month max and it will be something with cane sugar/natural not death syrup coke type stuff.
I try to curb my caffeine intake to 3 coffees per day max. That helps alot.
It's not perfect, but I am pissing about half as much as I was before and only 1 or 2 times a night max.
I'm no doc, but it seems that treating the whole body (aka super good diet, lots of exercise etc) seems to always help these things right themselves more than just trying to treat the one issue directly.
Good luck.
