what the hell my 1000 post
Was hoping for something good to post. Than i figured last week was pretty darn good. I'll post some photos from that.
an old friend wanted to do a hut trip. So I went back to my roots at Hatcher Pass
My friend put the dome there back in 1986. For many years it was just our crew. word got out place got popular. My friend said screw it. American Alpine Club bought the old hut and lease. Finished the new hut this year.
new hut
corner windows nice view
in 1986 it was 210 RD's and leather boots. We usually skied the glacier. Things are different now.
Got back to Cordova. We are having a huge winter skied this in Nov.
Looked like this last week
been looking at a line since I moved here. 2 miles of forest and a cliff band has kept me away. Biggest year ever might as well take advantage. Peak in the back.
spent part of a beautiful Friday wandering around in the woods trying to figure out a way in past the canyons
Lucked out the weather was holding and my partner was ready to go.
previous day paid off. we only spent about 3 hours in the woods with good traveling.
just to give this TR some creed we were in the Chugach
got out of the trees and had a nice view of majestic Mt. Eyak.
Out of the wood and gaining vert.
Ben boots the last bit to the summit. Big boy Chugach in the background.
Heney Range, biggest little mountain range in North America in the background.
lousy photo of the traverse out of the box canyon.
Line in the background
At 17 not into letting another guy put his arm around him in the middle of the forest. even if it is his dad.

I'd say you posted something pretty rad! Skiing with your son in a place like that doesn't get much better IMHO.
I can't remember...

These types of TRs remind me to bring my camera out to contribute some stoke back. Excellent 1000th post. Hope mini-BFD realizes how awesome it is to have a dad like you.

We've won it. It's going to get better now. You can sort of tell these things.
