If you're looking for another Sage Cattabriga-Alosa (https://vimeo.com/user342667) wannabe, you won't get it with me. Actually, if it were me, the "wanna" would be too high and the "being" too low. Hence for you may I suggest a particular path in which I have experienced: dissatisfaction, irreverence, discipline, patience, mastery.
Check out the heartcarve training vid on my homepage, if none of this sticks with you, may I suggest the likes of Tanner Hall (http://twitter.com/TannerHall Inspired Media) who can supply all the comps, stomps and romps you'd ever want. Or else you can hangout here on this thread until winter. Right now, I'm designing some snow cones (of the kind to ski around.)
There's also a pretty insightful Jeremy Jones interview.

I think you miss the point of TGR and the passions of its posters.
Skiing hard snow is boring and shitty for most of us.
It's not difficult. It requires little skill to just point it down the fall like back to the lift on a perfectly groomed trail; and that's basically the only way for us, and many like us, to enjoy a groomer.
if you're going to travel from Israel to yurp, at least TRY powder. Waste of money, otherwise.
We don't like short skis. We don't like pole cams. We don't like shitty techno.
Please just get that through your head.
Another thing you have in common with Tom from Austria is that your English hurts my brain.

What's the point of being a powder ski fanatic unless you live on or close to a mountain and can pick your days to ski when you actually have it? And at that point, how quickly is it gone? Can you access a helicopter? Are you going to trek out for hours just to have a minute or two of it? A shot of powder will only fix your brain for so long then you're in comedown for days.
Also, how many years does it take to gain the mountain experience to make it safe? For intermediates, can they get access to mountain guides when they need it?
Looking at a typical TGR film for me is really great, but it's like reading about a superrich startup founder's life, for most people it just doesn't happen like that in real life, even if it happens more often for people here on TGR and is still fun to read about.
I brought up Tanner Hall because he can kill it in the backcountry and the pipe (and moguls too apparently.) Heartcarving would be a good way to diversify one's skillset if you manage to fit it in.Last edited by adria33; 07-07-2012 at 11:30 PM.

Backing out of my driveway, getting there, suiting up, and getting off the top of the Griz lift at Snowbowl is about 50 minutes. And that is a long, slow lift.
Depending on when and how much it snowed, powder can be found all day, and even days after a storm.
No heli ops that I know of in Montana.
You're again missing the point. Most of the people on this board live within an hour of very good skiing.
Not only do I know how to carve, I'm really good at it. I'm from New York. I know how to get much bigger skis that you seem to like way up on their edges. It's more fun that way. Small skis are a little scary once you're used to big skis. They feel like children's toys.
So my "skillset" is plenty diversified.
Carving hard snow fucking boring.
You don't need a mountain guide to ski powder. Nor would I travel hours and hours at great expense to avoid it.
You look for ski tracks and you follow them.
Intermediates? Yeah, that pretty much sums it up right there. BORING. And if you need little tiny things to skid around on hard snow, you suck.
Enjoy living in your comfort zone. No one cares.

You are joking right?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanner_Hall
He's had a number of very bad accidents over the years but recovered.
He seems to take skiing to the next level, although he's just a very high profile dude with his x-games and freeskiing wins so can't comment across the board. I doubt he'd have the mountaineering skills of stuckathuntermtn, though.

swastikausa: if you are German you know bmw is superior motorcycle
salemcripple: Only pussy wannabes care what make a bike is. Ask any TRUE biker, they'll tell you it doesn't matter what badge sits on the tank, so long as it puts you on two wheels.
