Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature... Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. -Helen Keller
I am getting tired and saddened by saying this ALL too often this season.
++++++vibes to everyone affected by this tragic event.
Our world is full of surrender at the first sign of adversity, do not give up when the challenge meets you, meet the challenge. Through perseverance comes the rewards, the rewards that make life so enjoyable.

Obituary:
Timothy Robert Baker: 1987 ~ 2012
Timothy Robert Baker died Thursday, Feb 23, 2012 in a tragic avalanche while snowboarding outside the boundaries at the Canyons ski resort in Park City, UT. Tim died pursuing one of the many things he loved.
Tim was born in Boise, ID, Oct 3rd, 1987. He was raised in Salt Lake City and attended Horizonte High school and graduated on time. Thank you to Darryl, his teacher at Horizonte, for helping Tim achieve his goal.
Tim had a passion for knowledge, always wanting to learn. He was a history buff and was very knowledgeable on many subjects.
Tim lived life to the fullest, and his stamina was amazing. He loved a good debate on a variety of subjects, and was always up to discuss social injustice, global warming and anything important. He was strong-willed and very adamant about his opinions, but he was also very compassionate.
Tim worked at Legends at Park City Mountain Resort as a cook for 3 years, and he made many wonderful friends there. His last job was at the Corner Store @ the ski resort. He spent a summer working at Ruth's Diner and would ride his 10-speed bike to work up Emigration Canyon. He had planned on attending wildland firefighting school this year to pursue a job working outside in a physically demanding position. He could snowboard all day, then spend 2 hours in the gym, then go for a 20-minute run, always working towards becoming extremely fit so he would be able to perform as a firefighter.
The family would like to thank The Canyons Ski Patrol, and we are so sorry Tim's actions put your lives in danger. We would also like to thank the AirMed team, as well as Daniel at the U of U hospital for his help
Tim is survived by his parents, Pat and Nancy, and his younger brother and best friend Mark, his grandmother, as well as numerous aunts & uncles & cousins. He leaves behind many friends whom he loved dearly.
Services will be held at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, UT, Tuesday Feb 28th between 6:00 and 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made in Tim's name at any Utah First Credit Union. Online condolences to the family may be offered at www.starksfuneral.com
so sorry, this thread just shows how small the skiing community is, the dead always leave behind friends and family and more of us are connected than we expect.
RIP and vibes to those who knew
sounds like he was a good guy
