Sorry to hear man. Just wondering how did the binding fail? Meaning what DIN did you have them on and how much do you weight etc..
As far as the shoulder, you might get away with really good rehab but I'd get an MRI and find out if surgery is required. I've had shoulder surgery and my shoulder is better than it was originally ..

I've had both shoulders operated on-both successful. That being said, your rotator cuff won't heal on its own but, you can repair/strengthen the muscle around it to help make it more stable/stronger.
If this is a fairly recent accident, give your should/body lots of rest, take lots of supplements like vitamin c, calcium, glucosamine/chondroitin, B-12, drink tons of water, eat tons of vegies and anti-oxidants.
Also, like you said, alternate with heat and cold packs, take epsom salt baths, try very gentle stretching/range of motion activities, get lots of sleep. Shoulder injuries suck and are really painful-and they take a long time to fully heal.
If you're opting for the non-surgery choice, know that from this day forward, p.t. will be a large part of your life-I'm talking daily, weekly, monthly- life. Surgery also would involve p.t., but not as much.
See some specialists: ortho docs, p.t.s, accupuncturists... take your time. At this point, your season is most-likely toast, so you might as well do it right.
Good Luck

din @ 10, either the brakes locked into each other or the binding went into tour mode...couldnt tell because no body on scene remembers if my binding was locked or unlocked. right ski inner edge was forced under my left ski thus driving my tail outside edge on my left ski to dig into groomer, took a very hard turn off of the groomer into a 5 second hangtime head/shoulder first into a grove of trees, slid down a few tight trees about 15 feet and shoulder slammed into the ground at 9.8 m/s² or so (pun intended). ski patrol was great, that toboggan ride was fun!
my helmet's shell is separated from the foam, and has about a half dollar in size circumference and a 3 mm con-vexed deep dent! the backcountry goat sticker has a new scratch on it!
went to ortho,
stage three separation of my AC ligament
rotator cuff atachment to humorous torn
acl strain
1 fractured rib, 6 bruised
shredded skin (tree grated my whole left torso)
surgery this wednesday, post op rehab appointment schedulled the following monday
no opiates, no acetomephrin, tyenol 600 mg, frozen water, vitamins, meditation and self reflection!
p.s. skis dont have any damage???????????????????????????Last edited by mcclintock; 02-03-2012 at 02:24 PM.
