things not to miss in vegas
yeah. i know. hookers and blow.
other than the obvious ^^^^ (and they aint goin' to happen)
I'm going to be in Las Vegas M-F of this week for a work thing. I'll be basically busy all day, but free at nights.
I have some cash but not a high roller.
What is cool that I just shouldn't miss?
titties not to be missed? bars not to be missed? more wholesome affairs? roller coasters? shows? pools?
every time I've been through vegas before was many years ago and I was either catching phish shows or at red rocks on climbing trips, and never had the scrilla or the desire to check out the city. now, i'm staying at the Rio and have time to kill. and I'm older and enjoy booze.

The Stratosphere tower is surprisingly pretty well worth the trek. Gambling at the Wynn and Cosmopolitan were also highlights of my trip last week (fantastic and frequent free drinks).
I also recommend waiting for the bus outside of the stratosphere if you want to get mugged at knife point in broad daylight.I thought their offices would be strewn with bunny-fucking and condom dispensers, a veritable enchanted forest of cock shafts and twat mist. - JoeStrummer

I was climbing in Vegas years ago with my wife and we met up with my parents for the holiday. Parents took us to Ciuque du Soile O (the water show) as an xmas presant. It was A-fucking-mazing. We thought it was so awesome we went back a few days later and saw Mystere on our own dime. Fucking amazing too and worth it. And we were climbing dirt bags living out of a van without a ton of cash to spare.

I've been to Vegas 6x and have never placed a bet. But, I can tell you I've had a helluva time.
If you're sleeping in your truck, at least go hit on the eastern european girls at the Circus Circus doing the ghetto Circ mentioned above.
Then, well, I didn't say I didn't buy a couple drinks... and had a bag full of fun, every time.
I's luvs roller coasters, I's love fountains of ...
Ok, you get it.

For dinner, I cannot recommend Sushi Roku at Caesars enough. Order the lobster tempura for an app, then choose your sushi. Thank me later, baller.

There was a Japanese restaurant in, I believe the Bellagio?, that had a sake float. I am not a sweets person but I was told I had to get dessert. It was the only thing that looked doable and it happened to be heaven. When I go back I will source that place out... the dinner was good too.
Definitely check out old vegas on Fremont. Go on the hour. Watch the sprayers, check the light show, drink a football sized marg, don't get mugged.
The deuce bus has a pass that is unlimited if you need to get around. Forgot how much but it is mad cheap and they run double deckers pretty frequently. There is zero reason to drive in city limits.

Go to the Luxor take in an IMAX show.
If you go to Caesars check out the Mall on the East side, its kinda cool. to look at the roof and stuff. The rest is covered.
If you have access to a car? Drive out to Buffalo Bills, and ride the desperadoOwn your fail. ~Jer~

The club Tao is pretty rad, if you eat dinner they will stamp you and bypass the line. The food is insane, try the ahi tartare and the scallops...The food at I luv burgers in the Palazzo is unreal, as is the high end mex place next door

Lotus of Siam on E Sahara is the best food I've ever eaten, and comes in around $12/plate.

x32 on any Cirque show. Check out this half price ticket outlet. I've only seen Mystere and Love, Love was a bit better imho. There's a pretty cool car museum at the Imperial Palace, there's probably a coupon in your in-room Vegas magazine for free entry, or print one here.
Check out the Cosmopolitan, i haven't yet, but hear good things. Their buffet, the Wicked Spoon, has upped the ante on buffets, review.
Downtown is worth a visit, it's had a significant turnaround in the last 3-4 years. Low bet limits, and most of the casinos still have 'real' 21, paying 3:2 on blackjacks. The Gold Spike had $3 tables a year ago, and pretty hot dealers. Check out the Griffon bar for a chill PBR, then on your way back stop in for a quality rum drink at Frankie's Tiki Room. It's like Margaritaville on acid.
If you make it to the Hard Rock, their $7.77 special in the diner is awesome, and not advertised. Salad, steak, 3 shrimp, and mashed potatos.Something about the wrinkle in your forehead tells me there's a fit about to get thrown
And I never hear a single word you say when you tell me not to have my fun
It's the same old shit that I ain't gonna take off anyone.
and I never had a shortage of people tryin' to warn me about the dangers I pose to myself.

Haven't been in years (I fucking hate LV), but the orchid atrium and the fish tank at the Mirage are cool. If time allows a trip out to Red Rock Canyon west of town is good.
I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...iscariot

X 3 For Lotus of Siam. This is regarded as one of the best Thai restaurants in the US. Hard to spend over $25 a person for food. The wine list, however, is insane. They had Colgin and Screaming Eagle for probably half the price it would have been in a big city. Ridge Monte Bello was $100-$140. The selection of German wines was inspiring. I would suggest that, if you want to blow out a big meal in Vegas, do it here, and spend your money on wine.
