I'd rather just run fatter tires.

Yeah, a 2.4 inch tire on wide 26 inch rims comes awfully close to a skinnier tire on 650B. Rubber is generally heavier than aluminum though.

What did the wheelset cost you, and what did you use to build it up?

actual cost, I really have no idea. Approximate cost: $300. I used Hope Hubs, Velocity P35 Rims, and DT swiss double butted spokes. I also was in the mood to change out the Fork (original was a Manitou Skareb Elite), and added the White Brothers Loop Fork, and that fork is totally sweet, but not cheap. All told, probably close to $1100. I was really bored this spring. Here are some pics:

We've got a WTB 650b wheelset and 120mm(I think...maybe 130) white bros fork and some Nevegals here if anyone is itching to try 650b. Priced. to. move.

I have a set of the WTB lazer disc trail hoops on CK hubs going strong over two years now under my stumpy with lots of abuse. My Haro sports a WB 100 fork which is fine for a hardtail and the way I use it.
