Sage sends a river crossing. 8 must be the magic number for backpacking because she really took to it this year. Helped with the tent and cooking and fishing, did 11 plus miles on the last day *gps indicated 14 miles plus but that is unverifiable.

His pack had all 5.5 days of his food and his dog boots in case he had foot issues but they didn't get sore at all. Aussies are great little trail dogs.

    Nice pictures mags.
At three and a half, mini HGC hiked 4 miles above 10K this weekend. Safe to say she was running on fumes when we returned to the trailhead.

Mags absolutely killing it with the kids hiking stoke. Summertime greatness! Hatchgreenchile sounds epic. We did 11 miles the last day with our 8 year old on our recent hike and she raged till almost the very end. Talk of ice cream and hamburgers kept her going. We learned from last year not to bring up the topic of civilizations comforts until the last day. Never waste the power of ice cream on the second to last day! Trust me.

Hiking and kids and sunsets and nobody within a few miles to bother us. The best thing ever.

2 year old told us she wanted to come on the board. She is having a blast. I don't even hold on to her, she just hangs on to the front leg. 5 yr old wants none of it.

8 year old catching her first fish on a fly on our backpack. She also became an expert casting the spinning rod we took along for the kids and caught some with that also dragging little sinking flies behind a bobber.

Little man did about 7 miles and 500’ vert today. His only complaint was that he wished all trails were downhill. Don’t we all.

Not sure I've posted in this thread, maybe DTM has but I'll add from today...
We'd prefer to be on mountain bikes, but sometimes we hike. And if we hike, it's been the 3,000 vert climb to the top of the Tram at Snowbird. Took Sam again today while Dan was out on a long ass ride. Sam made it up with only minimal complaining this time (his first time no complaints!) I can't blame him for a little of that though, most adults wouldn't choose to do this hike up.
He's mostly just stoked for the free Tram ride down. It's pretty awesome we're starting the phase of his life where we can do these super fun AND challenging things together. He'll give most eight year olds a run for their money on bikes, skis and foot
