What an event, eh? Steve will sure be missed when he retires.
Gotta call bs on the "stronger than I am" part!
Nice to have met you and your family.

Looks cool detrusor. The wife and I are headed to Needles area for two nights here in a couple of weeks. First night at Deadhorse Point, then we have a permit for one of the Chesler campsites for two nights and figured we'd explore from there as much as possible. Last night at a hotel in Moab. Fly in and out of Grand Junction. No kiddo though!

Owen at the tiller of Yeti (Express 27) today in the Pumpkin Regatta. His first time sailing in SF Bay. Can’t wait to get him out the Gate.

Nice time to go, temps are accommodating and crowds have thinned out. Deadhorse Point State Park is just as good as the NP's. Canyonland's we prefer Needles area on the South end over Islands In the Sky on the North / Moab end of the park. Not nearly as many people on the South end of the park.

SUP-ing is not surfing. Don’t start lying to your kid about that now. Next you are got to tell them that scooters are skate boards?

Dry land training. The kid is practicing his misty flips. That’s just how core we are.

Scored Owen a free classical guitar the other day. Now he doesn’t have to borrow his instructor’s.

Fuck yeah. The chairlift was what my son loved the most at first. He used to love the long slow Snowkirk chair that had greens on it. The best thing was what he said yesterday. He will never willing ride that chair again. Too slow and the runs are way to boring.

Fun weekend at KW. Arrived to dirt and left with two plus feet. Sled runs, short tours, snow showing and some lift served. Good to back on snow with the kid and cousins.

Only stoke I’ve got is of the kid lineup.

Not sure if this is a new thread or what, but I have a "traveling with kids" question for the collective. I am looking for a non-Wasatch, non-California Mt. Collective family trip in April (non Wasatch b/c we are already hitting that in Jan. Non CA b/c that's where we live already). Requirements:
    1) Something with terrain worth flying for (so that disqualifies Sun Valley and its ilk, as far as I can tell).
    2) Something where my wife (intermediate), my daughter (6-yr old intermediate skier in ski school), my son (3-yr old. Can ski but prob won't be potty trained enough for ski school) and I can all be relatively close to each other for ski school pickups and the like (So Aspen is out, from what I understand, insofar as Buttermilk and Highlands are separate mountains and none of the 4 seem like they have terrain appropriate for all).
    3) Relatively accessible to a decent airport.
    4) Ideally a somewhat interesting town that kids will enjoy hanging around.

I originally was thinking Jackson, but kids' terrain seems lacking.
Then I was thinking Big Sky, which I love, but I don't recall how good the setup is for kids or whether there is anything going on there in town.
The last time I was at either of the above was pre-kids with a house full of rippers.

So here's my off-the-run idea: What about flying into Calgary and hitting Lake Louise and Sunshine? Any Canuckistani family-having mags have an idea of how that may measure up?

Apres Vous at Jackson is mostly blues if I recall correctly. And it is close to 2k vert. She could also ski the Capser zone. Not a whole lot of terrain for beginners, but it seemed like a decent mountain for an intermediate.

Big Sky seems good, except you’ll be skiing the peak while they will be somewhere else in the lower mountain.

Sunshine could be good, in that they will be skiing in the valley and you’ll be finishing runs near them.

Yea Sunshine map looks good - not sure what the reality on the ground is but seems good on paper. Also not clear on whether the move is to stay in Banff or on the mountain somehow. More research needed!
