he’s had a Pieps for a couple years - before I got the Mammut hook up
he and his buddy used Pieps - I loaned his buddy my Pieps pro for the season
I loaned my Mammut to his girlfriend to use today
I used a BCA T4
the Pieps are fine beacons - he found a buried beacon in under 2 minI didn't believe in reincarnation when I was your age either.

That’s so awesome!
FKNA on the beacon practice Mikey. Going to start the girl on the beacon this spring. Hope to take her a bit further afield with the sleds next season. Can’t start the equip training and risk analysis chats soon enough.
Last day on the local t-bar today. Rain shower only lasted the first hour or so. Nice spring corn, not many bare spots either.

Been sort of an odd year with my dude. Transition over to Big Mtn from racing has been different. He crashed in two of his comps and is still learning how to score. But his park game has progressed nicely. Started the year spinning 360s, jumped to 540s, and has now got his 720 dialed. Kid still loves skiing!

No picture stoke but 9 year old mini-maggette has been skiing incredibly strong lately. She is absolutely charging down everything just as fast as I am and is now jumping off every little (< 5ft) thing in sight. Yesterday at Alpental, we were out in Snake Dance skiing the few inches of fresh and she pulls up and exclaims out of the blue, "This is my happy place! I really want to thank you and mom for teaching me to ski. It's such an important part of my life." That there is one of the best things ever said to me.
And she's gotten the racing bug. Wants to join the TAS race team and compete U12 next year. Right as the pandemic was starting she was in the Alpental ARC program (half freeride, half gates) and in her one and only race in U10s she podiumed with 3rd. I have no doubt she can be good, really good. Kinda scared of the cost and commitment but we'll absolutely make it work to see her (in her own words), "travel around and go really fast"."Great barbecue makes you want to slap your granny up the side of her head." - Southern Saying

Sticker Shock!!!
I've had my son in ski co-op lessons the past two years at Sky Tavern near Mount Rose. It's an amazing program that has ski lessons on Saturdays and Sundays for 8 weeks. My kid is 5.5 years old and its his second season in the program. Its a few hundred dollars for both of us to be in the program. The time commitment is the biggest hindrance, as it's often a 50 minute drive from Truckee, and the program works that my son joins another parent, and I get to teach a couple kids. I have had fun learning to instruct kids, though, I feel like I've learned most everything I can without joining a PSIA program, which I can't do and watch my son at the same time. My son has excelled a ton, and is the best 5 year old skier on the mountain. Sky Tavern instructors bumped him up to the 6-7 year old program, but I didn't see much help from the instructors in that group. And my son skis in the back seat all the time if he's not doing drills.
So I was ready to get him signed up for Mighty Mites at Palisades, but then I looked at the program cost for the season. It is $3450 for the season, and that doesn't include the season pass or jacket. I'm having a really hard time justifying that cost for a 6 year old. I really want him in a ski program because he improves so much with instruction. It looks like Sugar Bowl is nearly the same cost as well.
Does anyone know of a more economical program? Is there a one-day a week program that is better priced?

Proud dad day today. We didn't ski last year because covid nonsense. This year we spent spring break at Palisades. 5 days straight for the kids, they stepped up and my days as the top dog skier in the family are numbered. The picture says it all.
Wait, how can we trust this guy^^^ He's clearly not DJSapp

Ongoing Kid Stoke [2011 and on...]
Older kiddo won tri division championships at Jackson. 9th in SG, 1st in GS and 2nd in SL was good for the overall. She was beyond pumped.
