Anyone with little kids ripping on skis let them dabble in snowboarding, and if so, any recs? My 5 year old can ski most of Bachelor, including hiking to the summit and going down the backside, but he's interested in some occasional playful snowboarding. In part because I'm still better on a board even though I'm almost always on skis with him. Mostly I'm wondering if there are any gear recs, given this can be a time of year to find deals, especially used.

I was buying smaller snowboard equipment (18 mo) recently for the up-coming season, but found there was not a whole lot of options for children's gear in any sizes really.
Give Craigslist and FB Marketplace a try. You can also try Snowboard Trader on FB - there's been some kid's stuff up there recently and always new things being posted.
    Good luck!

Quick survey: Looking to head out to Colorado/Utah after Xmas before NYE with my 4 year old for his first trip to a real mountain (skied all Midwest for the last 2 seasons).

Where can we head that won't be (too) insane? Have a preference for Colorado cause we have friends that live in Edwards, who we'd like to hang and ski with. Any insights on Keystone/Steamboat/Copper/ other ideas?

Vail/Beaver Creek are no-gos due to black out dates on Local Pass.

Well, Beaver Creek would be the place but since that is out Sunlight. Not a bad drive from Edwards. Super low key and still a real mountain. Haven't skied it since I was a kid but it looked super good last year when I stayed up there in February.

Why are you describing your sex life in a kid's forum?

    Halloween in the Needles?

Slow and stiff would be bragging!

Planning on needles again, probably be a day behind the family due to work. Look forward to seeing you there?

Agreed, especially if you avoid the base shitshow and score a picnic table at West.

Sunlight might also be an option from Eagle.

    Thanks for all the recommendations!
We are going to chill in Glenwood Springs and then hit up Sunlight, looks perfect. Good combo of easy skiing and hot springs fun. Might take a day on Sunday to hit up Aspen area and I'll keep Buttermilk in mind. Grandparents are coming now too, so i might be able to bust free for a day at Aspen if there is snow.
