Ripping bowls while skiing the bowl. Not a bad combination.

Saw her up there last year and she's still on 3-pin bindings.

    Haha. I know.

BTW, looks like I'll be headed back up to MT for Christmas. Fingers crossed that Red Lodge has a decent early season (rare but it's happened) since that's where I'll likely be headed. Hope we can link up! If snow is truly lacking, maybe I'll go to Big Sky or BB for a day. I'll letcha know.

Twas a wild day at the town skinning grounds.

I’d guess 40mph? winds obliterated the freshies from Monday.

Still found some goods in gullies and lee zones after a very cold but sunny climb to da ridge.

Big hard wind slabs starting to form on many, many aspects. Just in time to scare me for Halloween.

Although somebody had been sending it... That’s some crazy cajones.

Interestingly, there was a guy wearing a sleeping bag and counting golden eagles at the top of patrol chair in what I’d describe as the least hospitable birdwatching weather possible. Nice view though.

Damn, that's insane. Giant brass cojones and a teeny, tiny brain.

Pretty sure those guys spend the better part of the fall sitting up there counting birds. Different strokes.

I've talked to the bird counters many times. Hanging at patrol shack, counting birds(yes mostly raptors), and staying safe....

    Fun conversations.

    Winter coming early(ish) to montana.

This cold has got some great ice started out at Canyon Ferry Reservoir. If you like to skate, this new ice is like a powder day that doesn't get skied out ... If it's anywhere near as good as it was last year it's worth the drive, something to do while waiting for snow, and good conditioning.

This site is the best to check on current conditions - https://www.facebook.com/groups/MTicebuds/

Here's a video from a truly incredible day last winter.
