Went further south towards West Yellowstone today. Little more snow in this zone and it was fun laying down our own skin track.

Dug several more pits and again found depth hoar. In one of my pits I got propagation, in another X.

So knowing we had poor structure and a weak snowpack, we once again opted to stay out of avalanche terrain.

But the snow was fantastic and we still had a fun day spreading the butter.

Oh and yesterday there was a huge slide on Buck Ridge. D3, 1500' wide and broke 4-6 feet deep on the depth hoar. Partially buried two snowmobilers but no one was seriously injured.

This was near where we've been the past few days and why we opted to stay out of avalanche terrain. Be safe out there.

The afternoon wanker report: wind overnight firmed up the snow enough that some describe the conditions as "icy", but the holiday visitors are gone and lifts were ski on. Powder was to be had in the usual places and the wind buffed spots provided some nice turns too.

Sure would be nice if more terrain opened on the peak because I've done enough laps on Liberty Bowl this season to last me awhile. I guess I'll probably come down Wednesday-Thursday regardless and keep my fingers crossed for some openings.

Looks like Wednesday is my day this week. Anyone want to meet up and spin a few laps?

I would not count on much else for a while, there is an avalanche cycle in progress.

    Holy sheet. Nuts!

Harry, I won't be rolling in till 10:30 or so on Wed. Gotta drop the kids at school and then drive down. Will look for you. Thursday first chair though if anybody is around. Green Marmot jacket, black pack. Usually line up at Ram8 these days for fresh cord or cow pow, do a few laps before heading to the bowl and tram. Hope to see some of you wankers on the hill.

That’s crazy. I was a snowmobile rental mental bubblehead up there on the 29th. Definitely was not high marking...trying not get stuck cutting turns in flat powder was more my speed.

I will be out mid/late morning on Wanker Wednesday and it would be good to connect again. We might even have fresh snow.

Big results today above the Bowl. Looks like part of 2nd gully through 6th to the ground.

Run report has a lot of avalanche terrain closed and for good reason.

Will shoot Harry a text if I'm running behind but I should be able to make that if the roads are clear.
