That is kind of cool. Combines the resort's logo with the postal logo. I wonder who thought that one up. I have been seeing those stickers around town too. No idea who is putting those up.

That was a pretty fun party tonight in the town center. Everybody was psyched after watching sheets of rain coming down earlier and then it turned into such a nice evening.

2012 SW Montana Conditions, Stoke and Whatev Thread

Thought I’d share some summer stoke from Bridger. After “kicking a shoe” on the ridge last January, I made the hike and found a ton of crap up there - including an old Jon Spriggs pro model ski, four poles, an avalanche shovel, and my Faction ski!Click image for larger version.

    Nice find!

That double rainbow must have been a great sight in person. Thanks for the stoke.

Had some fun in the northern Bridgers today. From the Fairy Lake TH, headed up the still-snowy basin to Sacajawea, then over to Naya Nuki to ski the Great One. Sunny when I started down it, socked it by the time I started booting back up, and some thunder to really make it interesting. Lost a pole on the boot back up - downclimbing to retrieve it would've been stupider than booting up already was. Headed back the way I came and was able to ski from the saddle north of Sac all the way down the drainage to a fairly short distance above the parking lot. All in all, a solid July ski day complete with no fewer than 4 different forms of precipitation.

I had friends in town so we hiked Beehive Basin along with about 100 like minded people.

Yoga Pants..... there were maybe 5-10 pair that were worthy and at least 50 that should have been illegal.

Do women really think that is a good look when they are carrying an extra 30-40 lbs?

Wow the Gallatin is really muddy today! Yesterday it was blue and today looks like the Mississippi. What happened? Looks similar to when the YC had the leaking retention pond.

Afternoon T-showers up Taylor Fork tend to do that. There is an area called the Blowout that runs off every time it rains up there. All the horse traffic around Slide Creek doesn't help.

Not Bunion is correct, again. The gallatin is much clearer upstream of the Taylor fork. Didn't know about the "Blow Out" but know the Taylor Fork was muddy this spring.

Doppelmayr has been busy on Flat Iron this past week getting another lift installed. The lift tower footings have been excavated.

Some steep glades off the backside that might be another good go to when the IKNO shows up. Low elevation though and kind Sse facing.

Based on a few runs way to the east (skiers right) of Little Dogie to the Poop Chute that area held snow well last season. I am optimistic that there will some powder stashes when the main area is tracked out.

Interesting location for a lift. This is the first I've heard of this going in.

Mainly intended to service the ski in/out for the Highlands area. Can you get to Bighorn from the top terminal? Or So-Co?

So wait... they are cutting some runs to skier's right of Lil Doggie and adding a lift?

Yes, SoCo and TWolf are accessible from Flat Iron. The lift line was cut to the Highlands last fall and no other trails have been cut. The challenge for less confident skiers is getting back to the Lone Moose from Andesite, unless there is another way through Spirit World to get back to the Highlands.

At least three of these Aircraft Control Point markers on Flat Iron. What is the purpose, part of the Highlands lift construction?

Those are typically used to reference aerial photos. They are probably collecting aerial photos for engineering plans or trail cutting for the new lift.
