Dumping at the Really Big Resort right now. 3-4 inches in the last few hours and coming down hard. Big flakes, warm temps.

Ouch! Yes the base this year is incredible. I already predict 11/1/19 will be the best day of the season

12/24/1982: Dave Stutzman BSSP killed in an avalanche in Snake Pit. RIP

12/25/1996: Erika Pankow BSSP killed while doing avalanche control on the Summit of Lone Peak. RIP

12/26/1996: 2 Patrollers doing A/C on Lenin had their skis split by a 4-8' crown when Lenin released with a shot from another nearby control team, one of them appears in the video above. Very close call that changed the way things are done on that route.

The subsequent avalanche destroyed the patrol/lift operators shack at the top of Shedhorn and wrecked the top of the lift for about 6 weeks. The toboggan in the tree, skiers left of the liftline was deposited there and remains in place as a sort of a memorial.

These days around Christmas evoke some hard memories. If you encounter any members of your local ski patrol words of appreciation for their work are not unwelcome.

^^^ Excellent point, I edited my post to reflect that.

    Merry New Year.

Dust on firm at RLM felt good. I have 2 guesses on AustinSA: white helmet mustache black k2s bent like a cripple thru the trees or orange jacket with mormin size family of girls in pink helmets. Just playing the usual demographics here.

Either way thanks for coming our way and hope you found something good. Merry Xmas!

Looks good. That's a cool looking shack too.

Harry, nice photos as well, looks like that refresh helped a lot at BS.

Heading to Fernie for a few days, hope to see you doods in the new year when the Big Snows are coming (according to NOAA via Great Divide which posted this 3-month outlook on their FB page). Fingers crossed, knock on wood eh.

Welp, we're about due. Even the 6-10 day finally looks good for precip. Better late than never but I'll believe it when I see it.

The fairer, smarter Spud and I got out to BB for some turns today. It'll never cease to amaze me how good two inches of fresh can be up there.

Another inch fell over night at 6800 feet and I'm sure double that fell in Madison County. Come get some.

Belmont is always a hoot skiing.

Really great chalk made the groomers fun to bomb today. May be low tide, but sunny blue skies made for some great turns.

As a bonus, a P-51 mustang circles around the ski area for a bit before heading back to town. Fuck those things are fast.

Good day for office work, yesterday was pretty nice. Went skiing with a buddy who is < 6 weeks out from hernia surgery. He didn't last very long. We did arc some turns down Deep South for you know who.
