It's weird actually being snowed in on a powder day and not being in a rush to be on the road by 5:30am (or not physically being able to, I haven't seen one plow this morning).

Should have put the plow on my ATV yesterday.

6" new in Gateway and pounding.

Long Range forecast has us warm and dry in 10 days.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

You will find plowing isn't always a top priority here, ha. I keep a chain and strap in the truck and pull a lot of people out of drifts etc. during big winters. They are always a little slow to get rolling, but it will get done. Lots of people complain though, I don't find it to be a big deal as long as you have snow tires, etc. I'm sure some of the covid transplants are wondering wtf they got themselves into this morning.

Well that didn't go as planned. Too deep to get any speed or lift and too light that I was on straight rocks and trees the whole time.

Over by the carroll college C on the mt helena side. Was passed by 2 others heading to power line. Didn't really care about core shots, just tried to get through without getting a tip under one of those trees and eating shit. Couldn't float at all in that powder and I was on 108s. Fun uphill at least.

Can't complain it's october. I don't think I'll go back out there until there's another couple of storms though.

I like the enthusiasm! Hit me up later in the season if you want to get some turns in at GD or go for a tour.

Crazy storm for October. A female acquaintance texted this morning to ask if it was too early to be tired of winter? Hell NO, I fucking love winter! I need to get her out skiing again, been a few years sounds like.

Would great divide have the same issues or do they have a few pretty clean runs that would be in right now? It looked like they had a light base before the last storm.

It's a rockfest. The stuff under Good Luck lift might be okay. Skiers right dropping down from Belmont lift along the trees might be another option or following the cat track that heads north from the top of Belmont. I usually don't get too excited about getting out this early so don't have a good feel for early season options. I will say this, invest in ptex and a gun if you are going to ski GD regularly.

Thinking of heading up to teton pass tomorrow. I'm guessing there should at least be a little base under the last storm. That or showdown. Having 4 day weekends is going to o be awesome.

Headed up to BB with the wife and a friend late morning. Ton of people up there and sounds like there were more yesterday. My first turns since messing up my knee in April so I was pretty hesitant to take the first few. Kept it real mellow and came away with no knee pain or core shots. Fucking stoked.

Showdown is sitting really well at the moment. Was up Sunday and there was maybe 20-30 people there. Base from last weekend firmed up nice. Then 8-12” of dense but cold pow. Took a few laps and never saw or heard a rock. Go get it!

If anyone in the Bozeman area wants to stretch the legs with a walk on snow this afternoon let me know. Might head up to BB to see how poorly my skins stick to my skis these days.

Showdown today was great. No worries about the base whatsoever.
