Go fucking skiing, or snowshoeing. Buy your big sky season pass for next year. Theres tons of shit to do on a bluebird day in beautiful spring time then bitch on a forum. Hope u dont mind, but the skiers will be taking this forum back. Start a new one about western smokeshacks/raising season pass prices/ and generally complaining somewhere else. I'm tired of this shit. Let's go skiing!

I've gotten to know tele recently and dude is legit. Not sure what he runs on but he has a different gear and he's a super positive, humble guy. He never would ask that I share this but it is a pretty cool story.
We were in the Northern Bridgers the other day poking around in some north facing trees. We look up on the ridge of one of the big peaks and see a guy booting solo. We watch off and on as he makes his way to the summit. It was like something out of Rocky
Once on top he proceeds to just shred the SE face. My partner and I were stoked just to watch and later I learned it was tele.
Guy is skier to the core and I think we can all use a little more stoke right now.

Yes, we can always use more stoke.
But showing up in a thread that had been chugging along for over 8 years with 400+ pages and 1,000,000 + views and declaring that he is taking over is a bit presumptuous. I will extend the benefit to him cause he has the enthuse but the title says it all.

I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

It does make you say WTF? to see someone who clearly loves to ski post about snowshoeing and photos of pool chairs. I mean it’s almost entirely green light conditions + a lot of elevations and aspects are still holding pow. To each their own of course - you do you even if that doesn't involve touring.
On a now-pow related note my 9 year old wanted to hike bridger yesterday so I can now report that both upper and lower Hully Gully are still holding winter snow. And ice. And corn. And stumps. Go get some.Last edited by kathleenturneroverdrive; 03-23-2020 at 09:12 AM.

Here, Here. Word. Usdatele isn’t just some Bozeman 4 year local. People need a kick in the ass to post some actual skiing stoke. Otherwise this is pointless and might as well be the Missoula thread, /s. The number of posts on an Internet forum doesn’t equate anything besides one’s dedication to posting on Internet forums. We can all act like armchair experts, but that’s easy and boring.
Grab you skis or board. Go walk up a hill with snow on it. Slide down. Repeat as necessary. Enjoy.
Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em.
A few from the past few days.

I looked at the BB parking lot webcam Sat afternoon and you'd think the place was open again!

Back to stoking.
Been amazing to not have much wind to speak of in the high country until yesterday. Few thoughts and shots from the last few days.
Battle ridge snowmobile rd is about as bad as it gets with woopdies right now. Saw 2 ppl pedaling fat bikes outta the parking lot- hope they had a trail sticker to help pay for all that sick grooming.
East and north faces skied awesome in the no bridgers all weekend with south aspects barely if at all softening up.
People were high marking avalanche bowl on hardscrabble with absolute reckless abandon. Like, 2 sleds with 2 ppl on each.
Green light seems questionable when you figure in paths that have slid already this year and mid/low elevation slopes that dont have that much snow above the basal bullshit. I wish instead of colors it was numbers. The color green makes ppl throw out all common sense for some reason.
BB is gonna be a mad house after hyalite closes, as per bunion for sure. But, seems like ppl stop skiing in early April every year anyway, so we will see. Chalet is nearly sold out of thier touring bindings, but I'd guess alot of those were knee jerk purchases and those ppl wont really get into it.

Looks like this weekend/next week are warm and sunny long the long range forecast. Once the shorts are out and the snow in town melts, I'll bet most forget about skiing for the year.
Hyalite also skiing quite well on N aspects all weekend. Did notice quite an uptick in traffic as well as a number of people who just seemed totally lost/clueless to the backcountry. Some poorly placed skintracks had me cringing. Someone put in the suicide booter in Maid of Mist.
