Lots of this. And free stickers! Thin as it was, it was a treat to be skiing the upper mountain for a couple hours. Lifted my spirits.

Not too many people skiing the upper mountain but what stashes were skiable probably got skied. Wind was picking up when I left and that's rarely good news at GD... But if it snows this afternoon/evening it could be good tomorrow. I gotta work in the morning but might go up 2-4 in the afternoon. Let me know if you're going to be up there. Given the thin coverage it would be helpful to have somebody to show you around.

    Nice!

While I avoided the houndstongue I did manage to find a few rocks. Skiing on 1999 Igneous boards so who cares. Lol.

Eldorado skied surprisingly well. Wildside and Hard luck were thin but not nearly as bad as I thought they would be. Suprise was variable. After 20 days of skiing the same two runs it sure was nice to go beat around the upper mountain for something different.

Oh, and mad props to the knuckle dragger that laid tracks down Deadman and the the guy that skied Broncho. Burly thin lines.

Condolences to the Talisman family. He lost his kid brother today. He was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne who saw combat in the first Gulf War. Heck of a nice guy that I got to know during his visits to Big Sky visiting his older brother. A southern boy, he could seriously throw down the BBQ at the Gallatin Riverhouse, then head out to the horseshoe pits to kick Talisman’s ass. The world lost a good human today.

Thank you for the kind words Harry! This was a tough day made more complicated by not being with him at the end. My kid brother was a big dude that lived life in a large way.

I had the good fortune to meet and share a meal with Talisman's brother. It was truly a pleasure. Sending vibes to you my friend on your loss.

He was a big dude, intimidating initially. Within a few minutes, I knew I liked him.

Big Lie with a nice little refresh. Gonna see if I can squeeze one last bit of stoke out of 2020 before kicking this year to curb.

    RIP to your brother, T-man.

What it seems like to me is the systems hitting the PNW are mostly headed north into Canada and going around Montana, or at best clipping the western edge of the state and then fizzling. SW and central MT are kind of in the proverbial "snow donut hole" right now. Next week might hold some promise, so fingers crossed we can turn this around. In the meantime all we can do is keep skiing what snow we do have and being grateful for every day spent outdoors in the mountains. It's just our year for a slow start. Makes me realize how lucky we are most of the time.

Somewhat successful day given I only had the hoks. Tele turns are hard. Pup was not happy anytime we went off trail.

This reminds me of 2004/2005 when I was living in Vail, Brahlorado. It snowed like 150 inches all year and I skied on Spatulas every fucking day......cause that's what you do when you are 21.

Seemed like a pretty big avy on cold springs. Looking from the lift, the crown must have been 2 ft+ straight to the ground. In other news, headwaters bowl and alders gulch is open*. *assuming you can deal with rocks every few turns.
