Haven't heard anything along those lines, but they've got a large handful of massive ones at BZN. I get the sense that most of that crowd is willing to trade a little extra distance for the lower chance of hassle that comes with a bigger airport.

This would be interesting volunteer work, unfortunately Glacier NP is too far away to assist with the bighorn sheep study: https://www.kbzk.com/news/montana-ne...-national-park

There’s one at the Ross Fork fire in ID reading 676… Is that even possible?!

Not sure if this was posted already, but Bridger has a new GM. Sounds like he was running Mt. Ashland in Oregon, which is another community owned resort.

^^That's extremely sad. I'll definitely kick in some support.

I'm guessing so. Bridgers got dusted. Bighorns got a nice dose.

2012 Montana Conditions, Stoke and Whatev Thread

Looks like some nice cold weather and rains starting this week.

Anybody want a fun bet on first snow in town?

If anybody wants to comment on the proposed expansion of Holland Lake Lodge, it's easy to file a comment at this link.

    https://cara.fs2c.usda.gov/Public//C...?Project=61746

POWDR (same corp that owns ski areas) has bought the lodge and the property and wants to do a major expansion, basically meaning the lodge and area will go the way of so many other places in Montana, i.e. becoming an exclusive getaway for the very rich. You can read through the comments after filing yours and basically they all seem to say the same thing: this is a bad idea that will negatively impact one of Montana's most beautiful remaining family recreation spots. I first visited Holland Lake and the lodge almost 40 years ago and have been there a number of times over the years. This fall I was there again camping with my family, and was very happy to see that the place has hardly changed over the years. Then I heard about this proposed major expansion, which really bummed me out.

You can read more about the proposed expansion at this link:

That sux. I lived in Seeley Lake in the mid 80s for several years. I know the Holland Lake Lodge real well. Rented one of those little cabins several times. Climbed Holland Peak a time or two with the Rocky Mountaineers. Sad to see it go.

edit: I know the chick who wrote that linked article, plus looking at the photo of the public meeting, I see at least 5 people I know. Time machine.

I’ve skied all over the world. I lived in MT. One thing I’ve never heard is— this place is getting smaller.

    Sorry homie.

It happens to all of us.

My advise is— shoot the CEO.

    I say that in jest.

Been a long time since we've been to Big sky in the spring. What's it been like the last few years mid-April conditions wise and are they open midweek until the bitter end? I know this past spring was stellar but that was probably more an anomaly. Researching spring break options and debating between some place warm and expensive or just hitting up the Big sky which is almost free for us.
