Great Divide was reminiscent of the perpetual shitty grooming and icy conditions of the last six years in Alaska….

Yeah it was rough up there today. Stopped by your camper to say hello but nobody was home.

I can't speak knowledgeably about going way up high, but your expectations seem to be at the right level: it's pretty grim out there right now near Bozeman. I skied some corn on Ellis this afternoon but I wouldn't actually recommend going there and that's not said in a "Bozeman sucks, tell everyone!" sort of way... it was rough.

This is not overstated more snow, powder, and few tracks besides moose in Yellowstone NP.

Good times Sunday on woody ridge. Almost forgot about foreseeable infinite high pressure. Can confirm did see lots of moose in the park.

I'm not that good of a skier but I don't think they're supposed to look like that.

They are actually asyms. Left ski just has a deeper rocker line for more float.

Been here since 91, this is as low tide in January as I have ever seen. Maybe some refresh tomorrow.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Traverse into Alder/Cold Spring is downright comical right now.

Stump, indeed. Broke my ski and not my leg so I guess that’s a win.

Coverage is pretty abysmal. Plenty of groomers riddled with rocks and bare spots popping up. Ski up lift lines basically everywhere but swifty (which was <5 minutes) so that was nice.

Professionally curated assymetrical skis handcrafted in Big Sky? My opening bid for these beauties with their binders is 100 TRY. I'm glad you are OK even if you don't accept the generous opening offer.

I was actually thinking about repurposing the intact ski to a mono ski with a slalom waterski stance.

If you need boards I am selling some 188 Quixotes on gearswap. I will hook you up a sweet deal. And they are actually SUPPOSED to be asymmetric.

Finding the rocks and getting back in shape

Been out a few times around Big Sky and further south. Good times were had getting back into shape - we have become comfortable with being the slowest party out there. The bottoms of my skis might beg to differ as the windblown slopes are thin. With that said, it has been fun to have green light conditions.

Last Sunday we bailed on the steep (for us) chute because the snow was pretty firm, and frankly we are not in great jump turn shape. Several folks skied it before us though -- looked fun. We had decent turns on the face, but any onlookers who witnessed our style were probably glad we didn't try the chute!
